Is bard charm worthless, or am I doing something wrong?

Bard charm is probably my favorite song, here's why.

1. Gives you dps, this can be really significant if you charm a rogue or caster.
2. Good for pulling. you can use it so SK mobs use up their HT on another mob and not you. Similarily you can pull casters mobs all the way to your camp without them casting once on you. Plus it has a huge range.
3. Acts as a mem wipe, I don't know if you have noticed but bard mez is HUGE agro. Charm a mob you have had mezzed for a while and on the break the tank will have no trouble getting agro.
4. Tank on 4% health and cleric has only just starting casting that complete heal? Charm the mob and save the day.

The only disadvantage to the song is that dumb people / people that don't pay attention / people that don't understand bard charm mechanics get easily confused.

Make sure you use your hide skill when you want the charm to break early.
