The citizens of Oakland thank you for their future tax increases.

I might have thought occupy was cool when i was about 16-18. I outgrew my teenage angst a long time ago.

If you make the cops cost more, people gonna hafta pay more...unless you also plan to organize some large scale tax boycott. You'll break the people long before you break the banks. Gotta stop the horizontal violence (support the troops, support the police, i deserve this welfare for 10 years etc) before you can make any real change. As it stands with the state of today there are winners and there are losers, and those winners will fight for whats they are receiving.

Actually, Oakland is already short on law enforcement, so the net effect of protests in Oakland is that the thugs have more freedom to vandalize, rob, rape, and murder. Some people think of this as progressive social change. They're probably right.

Things are good, but that's no reason to prevent them from being better. Also, some people have been so...for lack of a better word, abused (whether by parents, peers, or educational systems) that they're woefully underprepared for a life of what you're describing. Some of them (especially the older generations, late 40s, 50s) may never readjust their skills to be anywhere near worth (in a job market sense) 40k/yr. What should be done about these people...soylent green?
