Well bruteforced attempts would easily be logged, rumors has it that they were and parties involved are suspended. I hope they remain suspended and never play here again.

If you give out your access and someone scams you, that's one thing. If you bruteforce someones account that's pure hacking and should be treated as such.

Either way it's shitty both ways, but one would be bannable the other "legit".

Well see, all i know is that i ain't giving my shit out to anyone, cause you fools cannot be trusted.

There are other ways to steal ones account information if the person is dumb and uses similar passwords/usernames across all or certain accounts. I don't doubt that almost everyone who had their account stripped/deleted were from giving their info out and wrong person getting ahold of it or a friend backstabbed them. When it comes to protecting your information its simple, Use long passwords and a different one for anything that can potentially give someone access to your emu account or especially your email.

A lot of people don't realize that even guild forums in phpbb or similar if they use no password encryption or something simple like md5 hash it can easily be reversed/bruted. During the years in WoW this something very common to do to competition, exploit forums/ts/vent whatever and start matching up accountnames/emails/passwords to various things and find the unlucky ones who use the same password for everything.

tldr version = use a different password for everything you register.

Aside from that, I can see how people get their things stolen and stripped because of how many people share account info with 'good' guildies or friends who unknowingly to other friends share the info to their friend. Despite all this guild vs guild and player hatred there is a huge web of friends that cross over into that other side that people don't realize. The quote from rogean pretty much sums shit up, Don't give your info out.

still think they should change the rules to perma bans in future. dont restore the gear if its too much trouble to do but a deterrant should be in place

Again, What was done wrong here?

People have been getting stripped and deleted for years now on the project. Sharing account information, trading accounts and anything related to that has been met with the same response from GMs and staff since 2009.

You do it at your own risk.

As for "thin ice / final warnings" I think you may be trying to parallel this to server rules which none have been broken.

Where was the disgust when others have been stripped and deleted in the past? There was alot of praising and congratulations given by the opposition when they successfully destroyed Northwest.

Yet now there is a cry of outrage...and when GMs do not take immediate action to ban/restore...that translates into GM/Server corruption.

Theres a difference when info is shared and person gets stripped and when info is NOT shared and password is brute forced and person gets stripped.
