You could get away from mobs by jump running as well. You didn't have to only strafe run. I wish I had a scanner still so I could scan the page in the collectors edition manual that told people to do that.

The reason turning and running in a straight line wouldn't work before wasn't because mobs were faster, it was because mobs ran at the same speed. running without jumping or strafing would make it so that the distance the mob kept from you was the same so you'd still get hit unless you jumped a couple times or strafed. Also, once you DID gain that distance on the mob you kept that distance, it didn't catch back up with you.

Like I said in the first post I made here, I know WHY it is like the way it is, but it is obviously intentional and not like it was in classic.

Because of how the code has changed in the client and seemingly everywhere else, this server will never be 1999. It can be close, but never spot on. The trick is weighing what non-classic changes should be put in.
