Default What does Velious offer to casual players?

There was a fantastic thread (http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=132972) a while back about gearing a non-raiding shaman in Velious. I was very impressed by the number of high-quality upgrades that were available simply through groupable content on dwarf (thurgadin armor set) or dragon faction (bracer of hammerfal, circlet of falinkan, strength of elements, talisman of benevolence, etc.). And canni IV, ermahgerd!

Looking at the thurgadin sets and new spells for other classes impressed me a lot less, frankly. I've read people's description of INSANE upgrades, but outside of raid content, I'm not really seeing much that's particularly impressive.

Please post anything you're excited about your class getting from small group content in Velious, or any spells/disciplines/etc that you think will enhance your class!

Coldain Prayer Shawl: flowing thought for a non-raider. Of course, it's debate-able whether you can call someone who gets 150+ in every tradeskill (except smithing) a "casual" ...

Nope

Bard:
  • Mana/HP regen songs for lower levels (20 and 32)
  • Overhaste won't really be necessary on this server, as it still will not allow a player to surpass the 100% haste cap, but bards will be able to get players to the haste cap (55% from epic + 10% L60 ervaj + 35+% item haste), which they cannot do in Kunark and will never be able to do without epic/Velious daggers.
  • Epic cockblock of Trakanon eventually gets fixed. No this is not "group" content, but it will be a HUGE improvement over the current implementation.
  • Lute of the Howler
  • Kael plate cycle should be virtually perma-camped (even though Thurg armor is marginal improvement over planar, especially in non-leg/bp slots).
  • Bards should be able to rock the ring quests, so getting a clicky should not be too hard.

Unless the 7th shawl was buffed after Velious, yep.

7th shawl gave FT 1
8th shawl gave FT 3 + buff extension.

Correct, but still saying a casual could get the 7th shawl which does have flowing thought on it... as meager as FT1 is. I was responding to someone else who said casuals couldn't get an item with FT on it.

Also, Dwarf armor is doable by non-raiders if I remember correctly.

7th still has flowing thoughts on it and ok stats to make it worthwhile for alot of classes. But yes the armor quests really arent that great unless you getting SS armor and even some of those pieces are meh...Velious offers more areas to hunt and cheaper upgrades to get for lower casual people.
