These Cactii are not what they seem. Take a closer look, do they not resemble the human form? Have we ever seen a baby cactus? No. They are always fully grown.
I do believe that they are not sentient magical cactii, or travellers from a distant universe, but travellers from a distant time. They are us. We are them. We will one day evolve into sentient cactus-like beings.

Point taken. I dare anyone to give me a ss of a "young cactus." They seem to appear full grown. At least to my mind, that suggests extraterrestrial origin. Name me another species that appears on the earth full grown. Answer? None. None other species.
That seems to rule out luck, and tilt the meter towrd some kind of space alien magic
