You are right. Our debt when consider in its entirety is something to be worried about, but that wasn't my/your point.

GDP is not the same as taxable revenue income. It is mathematically impossible to pay off the debt, by design. Partly why America was declared bankrupt in the 20's/30's and they took everyone's gold.
