Mamoru Oshii and Kenji Kamiyama both played significant, but distinct, roles in the Ghost in the Shell franchise.

Mamoru Oshii is best known for directing the critically acclaimed 1995 Ghost in the Shell film and its sequel, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004). He also served as a writer for the original film. Oshii's adaptations are known for their philosophical themes and more serious tone, often deviating significantly from the original manga's more comedic elements.

Kenji Kamiyama is primarily associated with the popular anime television series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. He directed and wrote the first season (2002) and its sequel, Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG (2004), as well as the film Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society (2006). More recently, he co-directed Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 (2020-2022).

While Kamiyama took over the helm for the TV series, Mamoru Oshii did contribute some ideas to the concept and initial planning stages for Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG, even supervising the entire series and writing plots for each episode. So, while they both worked on Ghost in the Shell, they largely helmed different iterations of the franchise.

i thought Oshii did Patlabor 3 my favorite of the three movies but apparently not, Jin Roh script was dope af though

He had originally conceived Jin-Roh as a live-action film and the third part of his Kerberos trilogy, but due to his commitment to Ghost in the Shell, he passed the directorial reins to Okiura, while retaining the role of screenwriter.

i don't like the art style in Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 but the plot is a banger.

if you go in with the mind set of knowing it wasn't made for fans of GITs and more for just people looking for a cool movie to watch on a friday and just enjoy it for some of the scenes, it's great.

the actors who played Batou and Aramaki did a real good job imo for what the movie was.

the movie *looks* right just tons of creative decisions that make no sense

so, no? not really lol.

the battle angel live action movie was a lot better than the gits one. i wish they'd make more in that series, i liked that whole manga start to finish.

wow i didn't realize that was edward norton as desty nova at the end. if they do really make a sequel, i hope they keep him. he's an asshole but he's good at his job.
