The locking-down of content, and the hilarity that is the raid scene on blue, should be sending even more blue players to red. Some cool folks on red, and you can always find a group, or a PL session from a higher-level. Yes, there is PVP, but it's actually a rush to fight another player or group for a camp.

Does anyone know the experience modifiers for each person added to a group, or does it only apply the 280% or whatever in a full group? The xp modifier sounds kind of enticing but it would probably be just me and two friends xping together most of the time unless we ran into some people.

XP Bonus has been bumped up to 1.5 from 1.25. A basic world announcement has been added for PvP Deaths" Quote from Red wiki page. I can tell you XP is crazy fast on Red. I bet you could get to level 50 from 1 in a week if you lucked out and got in enough groups and played like hell. And I don't mean 24/7. Even with 3 people in a group XP jumps up like crazy. It is well worth going for it. I bet Wizard is the number one Class on Red. Unlike about the least played on Blue. Lot of 6 person groups have 3 Wizards in them lol. It is a LOT different than Blue, good or bad. Go for it. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

What I like about red, is there's almost always a higher-level willing to take time out to PL groups. Had Hoax and Stench this last weekend. Was a blast. Moved from CB to Unrest really quickly, plus we got to watch Mikehunt get owned over and over by Spore. Last I saw, Mikehunt had several corpses by the Orc lift guards. I laughed. Full group is goofy fast XP even in a hell level. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Heck even 2 people in a group makes a big difference.

I'll just post my experience here so people can help get an idea of what to expect on red in the early levels at least. I am having a great time on Red because I feel like I am earning everything myself which I feel makes it more fun, there aren't a bunch of people sitting in EC that just handing stuff out to new players (which I am also guilty of doing recently on blue). Don't get me wrong, I really appreciated the help when I started, and it has made my experience great knowing there are good people on Blue, but on Red with the pop about 3 times lower, you have to work for things yourself. Anyways, so far everyone I have grouped with has been great and the exp bonus is fantastic. Is it classic? No, but the fact that you will most likely, unless you go out of your way to beg, have to work for all you own gear still makes each level and gear upgrade very rewarding.
The only problems I have run into are a couple twinks (Mikehunt in CB and Imawizard in CB) trying to destroy newbie groups. But really any popular zone can be avoided and with the group bonus, high ZEM zones really aren't a big deal. So yes, there are twinks out there that try to gank new players, but you can avoid them easily enough.

Most enjoy it once they try. You'll all learn to PvP in time.

EQ was never designed to be a PVP game. The mechanics from the ground up are poor for PvP. You could not pay me to play on an eq red server. Sorry.
