Praise it. My first time riding a scooter was in Chiang Mai. The company was hella cool and let us rent them in Chiang Mai and ride them (and return them) in Pai. Although they almost lost the paperwork on my scooter and we're not going to give me my passport back. All things considered, Pai wouldn't be a bad place to live out your days.

The drive to Pai on a scooter would be kind of scary, those roads were insane. I went up that way in the back of a Van and got immensely car sick - was still worth it. Agreed, could live the rest of my life in Pai. Probably one of the better night markets there too.

Pai had the best night market with Chiang Mai in a close second. I found a dude selling all different types of cooked bugs. I took out my phone to snap a pic and he wanted 10 baht. I told him I wanted one of everything and he gave me an awesome assortment for 30 baht, lol. (And he let me take the pic)
Slathar, true Pai was full of tourists but so is most of Thailand. Didn't make Pai any less excellent.
I took a yoga class there and as I was parkingmy scooter my peg ripped the hub cap off of the studio owner's car car and shredded it. All the locals pointed and laughed. I gave her 200 baht and she looked like she had won the lottery. She was a nutty old lady. In our "yoga" class we had this post where we had to getin dancers pose and then meet palms with our yoga partner and hold direct eye contact (intensely... She stressed that it had to be intense eye contact) for like 2 minutes. Was one of the most uncomfortable moments of my life haha

I've been to Pai numerous times but never actually seen anything there ha.

I've always arrived, went straight to bed, woke up and had breakfast then left. My father lived in CM/Pai for 15 years back in the golden years. He said Pai used to be a huge drug smuggling hub and was essentially lawless. It's still a bit of a mushroom/weed hot bed but I'm assuming nothing like it once was.

MOAR pics and vids!

Dumb idea to ride flood paths in the rainy season. Really dumb.
