then i guess not. i don't understand the insurance stuff, but no one working at the hospital here or SNF, rehab or ALF facilities has to be vaccinated. we are a state that refused to expand medicaid, so maybe it has something to do with that.

our staff is maybe 50/50 covid vaccinated.
This is surprising

Every hospital I am aware of in my state required all their staff to be vaccinated. SNF and especially ALF absolutely require vaccinations. Even me as a healthcare worker being requested to those facilities had to complete a covid screening questionnaire, get a temp test, wear n95 mask, and one even gave an actual covid test in their lobby

At least our agency, although they did still mandate the vaxx, also paid us for getting it. $500 per shot, so $1000 total

Same. I opted out of boosters because why? Got COVID even after the vaxx. Some said it reduced symptoms,, but we had numerous (fat) people get COVID after the vaxx and be hospitalized. Wasn't nearly as bad as the flu I had last year. The annoying part was the 10 day quarantine and the ER nurse stabbing my brain with an Arnold Schwarzenegger Q-tip to test me like 3 times before coming back. What a waste of time.
Yeah 10+ years ago I had whooping cough I picked up in Jamaica which was 20x worse than un-vaxxed covid. With covid I could take a single NyQuil gel capsule and sleep soundly through the night, was over it in ~2-3 days. With whooping cough I was coughing until I was gagging/throwing up

We also had to get a (single, luckily) negative covid test to come back to work, before they had the rule just 3 days of no symptoms…but then that got changed

Also in regards to the vaxx reducing transmittal, I haven’t seen lots of evidence of that, although it does make sense on a total number of droplets released reduction standpoint

However, you’re also supposed to test and quarantine until getting the results of the test if you have symptoms, so a reduction in transmittal rate should only apply to people who have it and don’t realize it

I tested when I got the symptoms and quarantined (completely by myself with my cat) as requested, so it really didn’t matter whether I had the vaxx or not (hadn’t) when I got covid. I wouldn’t have spread it to anyone regardless because I did what I was supposed to do and tested/quarantined

we'll have to chat sometime soon about something less infuriating, like exercise programs. i have completely run out of patience when it comes to talking to anti-vaxxers.

i'm aware that we're to call you "vaccine hesitant" and put on our saintly faces, just as we're supposed to be using "non-adherent (to care plan)" instead of "non-compliant," and "adiposity-based chronic disease" instead of "obesity," but i just can't with you people anymore. you're everywhere and it feels difficult to maintain my own sanity when surrounded by your particular brand of crazy.

i made a friendly thread about e-readers. do you have a kindle? let's chat about that, maybe.

200 years ago you woulda been the person bitching and raving that anyone who doesn't like leeches applied to their skin is a devil worshipping witch.

"You won't let the doctor slice open your arm and bleed you because you have a fever?"

Fair enough, I love talking about exercise almost as much as I love doing it, which is quite a lot

Was a voracious reader back in the day, but haven’t in years really :/
