Think he means subsuming Russia to the West will fundamentally alter our societies for the worst as their influence corrodes our resolve.

And it will happen, but it won't be nearly as severe as if North Korea fell. That's the pending humanitarian disaster noone wants to talk about or has a plan for. Imagine 20 million illiterate peasants being thrust into the age where we have pocket computers and Kardashians.
