He ordered the reorganization of the GHSBU prior to COVID. During COVID, he was advised by epidemiologists along the way. He chose to not heed their warnings because he was more concerned about re-election and the stock market. Instead, he shopped until he found someone willing to deliver the advice he wanted to hear.

COVID was a slam-dunk opportunity for Trump to get re-elected. Back in march he could have come before the people and galvanized us like FDR or like Reagan would have. He could have told us it was going to be hard and asked us to step up together and sacrifice. Think Rudy on 9/11. Act like an adult with some humanity and shoot straight with your constituents. The bar is not that high.

But no, he didn't like the message coming from his experts so he did what he's pathologically compelled to do -- go the other direction out of spite and continue to double down over and over once it's clear he made the wrong choice.

A proper response doesn't assure a positive outcome, but that doesn't excuse an improper response.

Define improper response, or proper response. "Do everything correctly" isn't an argument. Based on what we have learned, covid is still highly non-fatal. a 95% survival rate for the most vulnerable group (the elderly) does not warrant the response that has been deployed, and especially not the consequences of the measures that have been enacted. Nobody has been able to explain, still, why we shouldn't just socially distance and wear masks at all times, for everything, based on this logic. The common cold is more fatal, influenza is more fatal, ebola is more fatal, chicken pox and shingles are more fatal.

Listen to epidemiologists and other infectious disease specialists.

They don't recommend wearing masks for the cold or influenza (most). Just because they haven't been able to explain it to your liking doesn't mean it hasn't been explained. It's a combination of mortality, R0, and other factors. If we didn't have vaccines that were at least partially effective for some flus, we might be asked to wear masks more.

This trend in our society to give credence to our layman's logic and information we read on facebook over that of the experts is an alarming trend that is, almost, uniquely American in origin.

Masks dont do anything, the covid will be on the outside and just go on your hand when you take it off, or take the mask off when you bring your food / groceries home and then you inhale it

people have been wearing masks for months and infections are spiking ( almost 7k today in FL )

You're saying that if no one wore masks ever it would make zero difference in where we are currently? Almost everyone with any level of expertise disagrees with you.

It's not a zero sum proposition.
