They have deplatformed Alex Jones(holds a few crazy thoughts), no due process, no judicial oversight. These early internet days are foundational and need to be properly handled. These monster corporations just buy up any competitors for obscene prices and kill competition.

We need Theodore Roosevelt 2.0 to break them up or turn the internet into a public utility. Freedom of speech is on the chopping block and no one bats an eye because the first head chopped is an accepted charlatan.

Thoughts?
Trust busting is welfare for millionaires that takes from billionaires. Otherwise it doesn't change anything.

we're kinda done with trust busting. Thats more of an early to mid 1900's thing.

its not really relevant anymore and we have chosen a different more oligarchic hierarchy.

they still do monopoly investigations, but they never actually take action. seen it done to a million Fortune 500's now where they are investigated and nothing happens.

Its over his lawsuit. They are going to target anyone who gave him a platform in the lawsuit, so they had no choice but to quietly or not so quietly deplatform him.

Of course, whether the suit is settled or not doesn't matter. They used it as an opportunity because "they dont really like that guy anyway"

Agreed. I've heard of people speak about an "Internet Bill of Rights".

Some of these companies are so large that their platforms could qualify as a public space.

Something needs to be done.
forcing companies to do anything would be the wrong choice. the freemarket will decide, even if it takes a couple years.

nah not with oligarchic monopoly.

its like telling someone to go start their own oil refinery if they dont like it during the Rockerfeller era.

try again

Teddy Roosevelt would be assassinated in today's political world. I'm not even sure he'd be able to make a dent with statesmanship as a platform considering how Kinky Friedman got treated in the governor's election some years back in Texas. They harped on him using "******" in a detective novel from the 70's, a work of fiction... Shit, that's when I learned how fucked US politics is since nobody would hold the line between fiction and reality.

Teddy Roosevelt would lead the rough riders into Mexico over the Iowa girl

We are a much more pusillanimous country today. I hope a new Augustus is born in my lifetime. The legions need to march
