![]() I enjoyed the event a lot. Mind you, I had some buddies who could port (but, this game is about social interaction, so having buddies isn't exactly a big expectation...). I thought some of the hints were very good.
My one complaint was the reward, but not because I wanted some 100k item. I'd have liked to see something unique about the event reward. Something that was Lore/No Drop that was flavorful to the theme. An example might be a "Guise of the Scarecrow." No stats, no drop, turns you into a scarecrow. No faction benefit, no vision benefit, just something flavorful and unique. If you don't go down the route of unique next time, I'd suggest removing LORE items from the list of rewards. I had at least a few buddies who got nothing because their reward was a LORE item they already had.

![]() I think the event attempt was cool. I just assumed at level 39 I wouldn't have had to worry about getting killed or finding several ports and buffs that my cleric doesn't have.
On live, holiday events were kinda fun, still took some effort and time to complete, but reward was a fun unique item to that event only. I think one year we got a gnomish fireworks stick for the 4th, nothing that changed gameplay but some thing that showed you completed an event. Non holiday gm events can be for higher levels, or have different skill levels of completion, resulting in appropriate reward for each tier of completion.

![]() I liked the event a lot with a couple of reservations that other people covered. My handful of insights after sleeping on it.
Strengths: 1) The event was spread out over different zones which mitigated zone stress from population significantly. This is huge. When you put an event with one boss fight or something similar in one central zone with ease of access, you get a fuggin' mess. Great job with this. 2) Because it was spread out, yes, people that could teleport were immediately put into a situation of peer pressure of "well hell. if I port to different continents without a full group of strangers wanting to do this, I'm a scumbag." - Soooo many players came together and chipped in to help others have fun with this. I saw it in every zone. This. Was. Neat. 3) Scripting was superb. I think some of the tricks were over-the-top harsh, like Ice Comet and the teleport to Kerra Isle, but the intent was great. The need to visit NPC's and get items for masks - very cool. Weaknesses: 1) Uncertainty of how long the event would last: this has a big impact on a person being motivated to participate. When it started at 6:00 pm Pacific time, I had it in the back of my mind that the event would probably last for 6 to 8 hours, for people doing it on foot solo to complete. Nothing was announced, and we all learned it would last for much less than this. I'd like to ask that this concern be considered for the next event. 2) A lack of different tiers for levels of completion based on levels of characters for what they could actually do. Or perhaps for people with limited playtime. But you already covered this. 3) Prizes. Already covered, but I wanted to mention that Guises or Thex Daggers or bullcrap that's rare and priceless isn't needed. I think you already have some strong ideas on what to do here for next time. Please let there be a next time, thanks for taking feedback.

![]() The rewards didn't really upset me, although that didn't help. I didn't do the event for a reward, just to see what it had to offer gameplay/mechanic wise, which is what I found disappointing about the event. I found it a bit dull, a little variety would have went a long way I think. Find guy, he tells you where the 4 others are, run to them, run back to the guy, rinse and repeat. After the first few item fetches it was a little old. Having to do this 16 times in a row was pretty repetitive for me.
A lot of people have kinda made this point, but running for 3 hours through some of the largest zones in the game, while often being met with a random chance of being ported across the continent, getting ice comet'd, or having blind cast on you in the noble building in Kael with giants rampaging about seemed in bad taste. EQ is brutal enough as it is lol, spending 10 min running across WK only to get to the quest npc and be met with a "haha" and being ported to freeport was a bit much I think. And I was a port class, so it wasn't that inconvenient for me, I just had to make the 10 min run from NK to WK again. At about half way through the event I decided I had spent a decent amount of time on it so far, I might as well finish and see what I get. The equivalent to vendor trash item did sting a bit, but thats only because I didn't enjoy the rest of the event. I've seen a lot of people say the event was fun, and I personally don't see the fun in running for 3 hours, but we're all different so oh well, can't please everyone. I think I would have enjoyed it more if there were less npc's to find, they were harder to find, and the penalties were not so severe. The only one I had difficulty finding was the first invis guy in FoB. Most of the npc's were very easy to find in very popular zones. The difficulty wasn't In finding out where they were, it was just spending a lot of time getting to them, and dealing with the severe penalties they might inflict upon you. I do realize the difficulty in trying to make an event that everyone can participate in, which is why I think this went the "non-combat" route, but it still proved difficult for lower level players to accomplish. From the guy in FoB being on the path that Trooper Taer(or whatever his name is) walks, to having to get to the noble building in Kael were things that discouraged lowbies from participating. I feel bad about making this as a lot of others are bashing the event, but this is how I feel about it and I'm trying to be constructive. I appreciate the time that went into this as well as the time spent working on the server in general, thanks for the effort. Looking forward to seeing whats done differently next time.
