Amazing work, seriously. In the massive deluge of comparison pictures, did I miss the griffon shield re-work? (it also has a fairly rare shield model, as well) One shield that has it would be the NToV Shield of the Protector.

Good call - this was also previously completed by Cucumbers and left out of the first shields post:

Although, I'm not so sure that's a griffon so much as a flying monkey. No idea what that thing is. Back looks like this, just applied to the different model:

TBH It's about as well done as I could've expected!
My previous interpretation of the weird-ass texture was that it was leather with a branded icon/logo, but Wood works for me!
I tended to look at that shield with de-focused eyes to see 2 legs on the bottom versus 2 hooked legs on the side.

Oh and also, your interpretation was correct - this shield and the targ shield are supposed to be leather, as indicated by their texture names: shkiteleather.bmp, and 216ikshleath.bmp. I never interpreted them as leather, though - I always assumed they were wooden. I'm willing to wager most people thought the same.

You really colored within the lines so to speak on that one, like, yeah wtf do you do with that garbled mess and still keep it nostalgia approved, but I think that's a pretty creative solution.

Hmm can the everquest mysteries guy confirm if that thing is anywhere else in the game? Screenshot thread should hunt for it. See if there is a clearer version of that thing anywhere else, maybe on the cloth maps I wonder.

This is great work, those shields are looking amazing!

Sometime soon I'll have to install these to deepen my enjoyment of Rivervale. It will be like the difference between a poorly fermented JumJum juice and a JumJum aged from '99

Perhaps I missed it, is there a project scope or roadmap listed somewhere? Is it just faces and worn items ?
