open bidding encourages bid sniping and also contributes to DKP inflation to an extent. with open bids, people can just bid the minimum that it would take to win, rather than bidding e.g. 20% over the "going rate" for the item to secure it for themselves.

exempli gratia:

person A has 200 DKP
person B has 300 DKP

open bidding:
person A really wants the item, so they go all-in at 200 DKP. person B sees this, knows person A only has 200 DKP, so they bid 201. person B wins, person A feels really shitty about it because it's only 1 dkp (or whatever the minimum bid increment is)

closed bidding:
person A goes all-in at 200 DKP, person B also really wants item so goes all-in at 300 DKP. person B still wins, but person A doesn't have to feel terrible about it because they bid what they could afford, and so did person B.

even in a closed bidding scenario where someone wins with a +1 bid, it still doesn't feel as terrible just because you know that the other person didn't do it intentionally.

A) WTF is bid sniping? Open bids aren't ebay you can't just wait till 1 second left and put in a higher bid.

B) If you want an item in open bids just outbid people it's super simple, if they have more dkp than you and win the item then its less dkp in the system so you have higher chance of winning next time, if you get upset over that then the problem is probably with you, not the system.

C) The idea that open bids increases inflation is stupid, open bids drive the prices of items higher because people aren't going to let someone get a top tier item for minimum bids.

I'm personally a fan of open bids because it's more transparency and less risk of corruption, plus it's just more fun, but I think both systems are fine and they have their merits.

10 years of you shit posting all your "server domination" and pixel harvests. At least have some dignity and admit you're getting beat at your own game. Yikes.

You had a chance to go out on top in a blazing fire of RMT accusations and server gossip gold. Instead you just leave behind AfterAEGIS. GL with instanced pixels.

17? Can you re-run those numbers? How many guilds has AM accepted members from since creation? Usually people who would splinter into AM from smaller guilds were "hungry" "available" "raid-ready" players.

You of all people should know that R&F bragging, topics, posts, and opinions never-ever correctly represent an entire guild. The quarrels here are usually born from child-like forum lurkers, trolls and flamers that represent a tiny minority of guild rosters. This tiny minority almost never accurately reflects the vision, opinions, and moral compass of said guild.

I honestly think R&F section should be deleted entirely. It gives a platform and promotes derogatory and tribal child-like behaviors. We're all "adults" now, if only we could all act more like it, I feel there is no need to give any space for tolerance of R&F.

Raiding guilds should also be reminding themselves that the winner/loser in any raid target encounter needs one another. Without competition it might as well be instanced or rotated.

News flash, Riot may noy have started these threads! Riot isn't the only guild to host people that may like to jam a thumb into AM's wounds. You kind of earned it.

17 guilds? Lol. Detoxx , you are lucky WoW counts for you, otherwise you might have a hard time completing enough gather X quests to keep in stride with your pals leveling. Aftermath and all its former versions certainly never merged with or poached from any other guild on p99 to bolster it's forces. Tuck tail and run sir, it's easier than tipping the hat when you've been out maneauvered.

It is sad to see you throw in the towel old friend. Just a few months ago you all were gloating about killing off guilds from dominating so hard, but now it is a 10 year old game that doesn't matter just because you are done? That is a horrible thing to say to the many decent , fun loving Aftermathians that you are leaving behind. Personally I am sad to see ya go, even if I didn't agree with your style of leadership you guys got shit done and always offered up some serious competition, I hope those still around can continue to do so.

Meh, EQ and P99 is supposed to be a magic place of nostalgia and enjoyment of a gaming road long traveled many years ago, when modems made noises, phone calls got your character killed, and zoning could take minutes.

Is R&F like this really fun? Or does it become a weird spectacular oddity of cringe? Sometime to check in on and try to laugh, but mostly you end up feeling dirty by association.

P99 EQ is all of those things.

Is R&F fun? for some of us it is. If its not your cup of tea no one is forcing you. Just keep on riding past the saloon. But the things you say, tribal and dirty by association I will hard pass on, its really rude.
