Demographics, yes, and I'd throw in parental involvement, basic discipline, and basic respect. My ex is an elementary school teacher for HISD and she has some horror stories. Most of them act like President Trump and can't believe they failed an assignment because they didn't do the work. Some kids are diamonds in the rough tho', they have the talent to rise above. What's really weird is the selling of the pass/fail rates of students to the prison system.
