Does anyone really care when it's a PvE server?

EQ isn't exactly a hard game to play, and some of us started here in 2009/2010. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Only someone like Hokushin would require a "Retirement Party" that hoses the rest of the server from enjoying the end-game content.

I was there, it was great, would ruin server again in spectacular blowout retirement party

In all seriousness thou you forget the GM's could decide to just put him back to sleep, or allow the warders to repop anyway... its always been at their choice, that's what you must come to realize when playing on a privately run server. They try and be fair and balanced in their decision's like a normal company run server simply from an ethical stand-point, but they are by no means legally obligated to do so, If they wanted to they could outright ban all of my accounts and simply send me a email saying "We don't like you" and Id have no recourse against them, because their service is free, and they are not a for profit game company trying to appease everyone.

There is also the chance the GM's never put him back to sleep, that is also by their choice not Rampage's. Whatever they decide to do with Sleeper's Tomb changes nothing, Rampage had their fun, and Awoke him and got their retirement Gift /Server first / History Milestone. And having done that they really had nothing at least at the time being to look forward too (which can be pretty depressing), who knows maybe Custom content in the future will awaken all the sleeping characters now forever camped inside the Sleepers tomb bubble....

A lot of people didn't even come back to this server until Velious. Rampage by then was a large monopoly guild after the TMO model. They accomplished a lot of what TMO was able to do in Kunark. So they had a massive head start (mostly thanks to TMO ban).

The minute Asgard and Forsaken were able to get the numbers they needed to kill dragons, Rampage's loot started to decline. Despite the massive advantage they started Velious, they began to be overtaken by FA.

So you can pretend you won the server -- but to me it looks like the second there was any real competition you guys fucked off. Well before huge swaths of your membership had half the gear they wanted.

How's "workin' for the man" going for everybody, anyways? Pretty well, apparently

I don't raid, nor do I ever plan to (have been in hardcore raid guilds on live and I just don't care about that anymore), but choosing to "beat the game" by waking sleeper, then quitting, was a pretty dick move.
