IRC How-to #1: How to Register your Nick (alias) for the Guild Channel.

1) Connect to irc.rizon.net (/server irc.rizon.net)

1a) If you need to change your nick; /nick name.

2) /msg Nickserv REGISTER passwordhere emailhere (e.g. /msg Nickserv register 123 123@123.com)

3) Check the email you provided for a confirmation code, and enter it onto IRC

4) Re-connect to the server and enter: /msg Nickserv identify passwordhere

5) /join #uthgard and ask to be added to the Guild Bot (only registered nicks can be added)

*This process takes no more than 1 minute tops, and makes it so no one else can use/take your nick. It also lets the other people in the channel know you're one of us!

I have a few questions after reading the Uthgard FAQ and a bit in the older forums. I tried, but I had problems finding answers.

1) What classic update patch will the server be running on? This will confirm for me a great deal involving content to expect as well as class mechanics.

2) I read in the forums that Bolt spells of all kinds were being used with the wrong damage calculation in the previous iteration of Uthgard, so they were doing sharply less damage as they did in old retail and had a much higher miss chance (assuming no Melee happening on the target). Is this true, and is it expected to be fixed for this new launch?

3) I read on the forums that the game uses the newer UI as opposed to the classic UI. If that's the case, the big question I have is - does the game client also use the newer racial models?

4) Two types of quest questions. In classic DaoC (2001+ era) it was really damned difficult to find quests to level with. Different sentry NPC's at towers and similar outpost locations would give you level appropriate kill quest tasks, but in Hibernia those ran out very quickly. Sometime around 2002 Hibernia's kill tasks were expanded upon but it was still very slim pickings.

Will there be more quest avenues for players leveling as opposed to that era I am recalling? Also, tradeskill consignment quests. On the Uthgard server, are these in place for crafters at the 3 capital city hubs, and if so, what crafting level range is needed for them to no longer be offered?

1) 1.65

2) Yeah, bolts were underpowered on Uthgard 1.0 (some other things were too like Hib/Alb 2 handed weapons). Supposed to be fixed on 2.0. Test it in open beta.

3) I haven't played retail DAOC since like SI so I have no idea what the current models are like, but I know on Uthgard you can switch between classic player models and newer ones. I'm assuming they're up-to-date since Uthgard uses the retail client.

4) I don't know much about Hibernia. Uthgard 1.0 had kill tasks and there were guides on the forum for finding them. I know I did some on a low level Warden I was messing around with. 1.0 had consignment tasks, but I don't remember when they ran out.

Maybe someone has some more specific answers but as far as what will/won't be working on 2.0 no one has any idea until open beta launches in a week.

Due to a personal conflict between a co-leader named Scrooge, I will no longer be guilding with him. So for any questions or concerns, ask him now.

I have to warn everybody that is going to be guilded with him. To put it simply, he has no regard as to how his words and actions impact other people. He will say whatever he wants, whenever he wants, because this is AMERICA, a free country. Even if those things attack his "friends" personal lives. He will piss people off, and he has in the past, and his guilds(plural) have failed because of this.

I will post a PM that Bryjun sent me regarding this very same issue, and I agree with him wholeheartedly:

"I will warn you though, please avoid Scrooge.

A couple times in the past he's organized groups from P99 to play on Uthgard with him. Both times have resulted in swift and utter failure, because Scrooge is just not a good person to play with. He'll take charge and belittle anyone with an opinion that differs from his own. He'll AFK in the middle of dungeons/pvp for huge swaths of time. If we wipe in a dungeon or in PvP he'll blame everyone but himself.

If you do include Scrooge with your group I will unfortunately have to find somewhere else to play, because he is just not a fun person to play DAOC with and history has shown that his negative attitude destroys guilds."

I was willing to give Scrooge another chance, but he's demonstrated time and again that he has no desire to keep his friends and to show them respect. I will not be playing with him this time around.

EDIT: Actually, I don't want one jerk to ruin my DaoC experience. While I won't be guilding with him, I still have high hopes to be a part of a separate guild that is a tight knit, FRIENDLY, nice guild. If there's anyone who's interested in that, shoot me a message. Thanks for your interest in the guild everyone.

How quickly the worm turns...

backman_66 tells me about his "Jehovah's Witnesses" organization, so I take interest and watch a documentary on them titled "Jehovah’s Witnesses Cult Exposed - Documentary Film."

He comes in IRC and I tell him I just watched this documentary on his organization, he then asks what it's about, I answer in detail, and he explodes..... So now suddenly I'm a bad guy and a bad guild leader and ......huh???

Why do people have to be so immature? If you don't agree with something being said, then don't, it can be as simple as that. I mean really...

In case some of you people want to know what he got angry about, it's the part where a family which used to belong to the Jehovah's Witnesses was being told they cannot agree to a blood transfusion for their newborn baby. If they agreed to the blood transfusion then they would be shunned and excommunicated. Then they got a letter from the local Sheriff telling them they will be charged for murder if they do not do the transfusion, to which the JW organization still told them ignore. So the family decided to save the life of their child, rather than obey these people who think they have the right to do this kind of thing to others.

Then there was another story about this family which lost their teenage son, because of this organization. All the people talking about it, explain how the JW organization promotes "family values" but in reality they destroy them and tear families apart.

THIS is what backman_66 is mad about, me relaying this information to the channel as part of a conversation about the documentary I had watched earlier.

I asked what the documentary was about, when you started relaying false information and told me the documentary was written by EX-MEMBERS, I asked you to stop telling me about it, because you were saying things that weren't true and were slandering my religion. I said that you were offending me and my very way of life, and you continued to talk when I had asked you to stop, and that's it.

Why don't you go ahead and post the conversation and show them where I "Exploded" because I certainly did not. If the words "stop" means "explode", I need to get a new dictionary.
