OP, is it possible to give us some kind of layman's guide for how the average Joe could do this?

Updates!
Finished the madman face I started a while back. Just one more human male to go now. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I spoke with Xevin and the computer that has the female armor and the rest of the robes isn't working right now. The hard drive is good he just needs to remount it on a working computer to get the files off. Not sure when that will be. Nilbog is there anyway to figure out whats the most used race/sex/faces? If I continue I'd like to work on some that the most people will get a benefit from. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I understand and fully appreciate that you guys do this for free as a hobby. The fact you do it at all blows me away and I can't thank you enough!
[Edit] I did find a way to use the newer models (using a couple of other links here) for both the world and character models! Character models: http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=66382 (tip: you can use the EQEMU launcher if you make the GlobalLoad.txt file read-only. You will get errors when the EQEMU Launcher runs, but just hit 'OK' and bypass them) World models: http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2482

What kind of software would it take to fool around with modifying 3D models for EQ (not just textures). I've done enough griping about other peoples' work over the years - sometimes I wonder if it's possible to put my money where my mouth is. If at all feasible, I might make it my personal crusade to fix my silly spirit wolf pet and his pencil neck and 2-dimensional lower jaw (sheesh).
P.S. "put my money where my mouth is" is used strictly as a figure of speech here, and hopefully there's freeware that is capable of this.

Can someone please tell me how I can help? My wife is a graphic designer. Hell, I'll pay her hourly freelance rate to get this project rolling.
I'm not even joking. | ||

It's pretty much dead. Every 6 months or so I get interested again and work on it for a week or two.
You can download what I've done so far on the previous page though. If I ever finish up more I'll release them as I get each finished.

UPDATES! - Dark elf cloth body! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I realized after I started that I should have done plate first because you'll get more use out of it. Oh well, plates next and from now on I will save cloth for last. Has anyone downloaded what's been done so far? If so what do you think? If not I guess I should stop wasting what little time I am able spend on this. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
