[QUOTE=Nyndari;895441I'm on a malachite budget as a newbie but it might become a big deal later on.[/QUOTE]

Yeah, starting out you can't really afford to reclaim your pet all the time but soon enough those malachites are going to be dirt cheap relative to the money you're making. Anyway, have fun!

Always carry mountains of malachite. You can always destroy malachite to make room for loot. I'd suggest 250-300+.

In order to receive full experience for a kill solo, you need to do more than 50% of the damage to the mob. If your pet out-damages you or the group, it will take 50% of the experience away from the kill. This is a major change from the previous system, in which you only needed to do a single point of damage to the mob in order to get full experience. If you are grouped, your group and you will get full xp from the kill.
Back when I played mage in 2010 it was 75%. Doubt its changed.

That is a direct quote from the server rules.. there have been 3 ways pets have worked since launch...

1st: you got full exp, no faction hits if your pet did full damage.
2nd: you got 25% of the exp if your pet did full damage, 100% if you did 1dmg
3rd: (Which is how it is currently) if you are solo and your pet out damages you... you get 50% exp which means if you do not do 51% of the damage or kill your pet before the mob dies you do not get full exp...

If you're going off of how things were 2-3 years ago... things have changed.

Ive played my mage and necro through all of these changes so I know them pretty well.

Pets and Experience

Oct 23rd update: "Classic pet experience distribution." Oct 23 2011 Patch.

If you are grouped, your group and you will get full xp from the kill.

thanks for all the advice guys, it's appreciated. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I just got an IP exemption so my boyfriend can play, he's never experienced EQ before, so as soon as I log in I'm going to go buy as many spells as I can and make an epic journey from Qeynos to the field of bone.... out of all the characters to try he decided on an iksar monk..I don't think it could have been more of a challenge if he tried... but that's part of the fun right [You must be logged in to view images. So hopefully I'll be grouped a lot of the time and the xp eating won't be an issue.

Hey Nyandari, Yeah the Guy who made the guild was part of Cold Fury and his GF also played in Cold Fury, So as it stands, only 2 ever played with the origianl Cold Fury, so it's just nice to have a nostalgic guild name, hopefully some other Aussies can remember =).
