ok I just want to clarify -- Indigo brotherhood is NOT the guards OR the dragoons. If any dragoons are covered, it does not include the ones out front or on the bridge or anything like that. My enchanter Propo leveled in GFAY/crushbone from 4-17 (DE chanter) and I have never once in almost a year and a half been attacked by anything in neriak, including running all around all three zones and nektulos with the exception of the warrior guild in neriak commons, which I have avoided. This is easy to do, it is tucked away in a corner of the zone and there is nothing inside you'd ever want to use unless you were a warrior.

The ambassador in crushbone may be on indigo brotherhood, but I am fairly sure the one in WC (Dragoon Zytl) is nonkos to me. The ones on the bridge and neriak entrance are 100% on dreadguard outer and not impacted by indigo brotherhood.

It used to be worth doing this because you could bank in felwithe with an evil race (the banker there was indifferent to everyone so being nonkos with the guards let evils bank there with care). I am told this was fixed and the felwithe banker is no longer indifferent to everyone however [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Indeed. Getting faction up with him is a real bitch, too. You can bank in Kaladim pretty easily once you get Storm Guard faction from killing orcs and then Merchants of Kaladim faction from handing in belts/pads.

Indigo Brotherhood = Neriak Warrior guild (hard to stumble in there unless you're lost, big blue sign outside it in Neriak Commons)

Dreadguard Outer / Dreadguard Inner = Guards.

...there's a wine quest in Neriak 3rd Gate, I don't know what factions it raises without looking at the wiki but its easy to do.

If you're making a dark elf wizard, you can invis to bankers and bank out of line of sight of the bankers around walls in North Freeport and Felwithe if you wanted to.

Having had a dark elf wizard on live, I can say that doing parts of the epic can be more tricky as turning up at Halas (and places) you'll be kos [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Overall though, excellent racial choice... the evil races are far better than the good ones.

Illusion faction is a little wonky on this server and doesn't seem to add to racial faction the way one would expect. On my rogue, I leveled in crushbone and got to "could not possibly get any worse" for Indigo faction, then when I used the mask of deception, I was apprehensive to Dragoons. After killing more orcs my illusion faction dropped still further to Dubious, even though I had long since got the "could not possibly get any worse" message. So I wouldn't use Illusion faction as your guide.
Yes, it is the dragoons. Your illusion acts differently than if someone without an illusion lost that faction. It's almost as if the illusion resets you to base faction and then adds the modifier. A dark elf wizard will be KOS to dragoons after leveling in Crushbone. Still not worth messing up the faction for 10ish levels in Crushbone imo. As far as banking is concerned, a wizard can gate and port for banking needs at 20.

I do want to clarify SOME dragoons are on indigo brotherhood which may be your source of confusion. For example, the DE camp in lfay, most mobs there are indigo brotherhood including the dragoons. But the important ones for the purposes of using neriak (the ones youd encounter using the vast majority of the zone) are not.

I'll agree there is not much reason to fight in crushbone as an evil for faction gains but it is incorrect to say it will cause you major problems down the road. It wont, unless you wander into the warrior guild. Crushbone is a fun and cool zone and I love leveling my characters there sometimes!

If you want Kelethin faction without penalties - buy CB belts and pads and turn them to merchant Linadian somewhere on the 3rd level of Kelethin - you get 4 positive elf factions out of that and no negatives.

The people who invented the first space ships were brilliant. That doesn't mean anybody should actually want to use them 200 years later. Ideas are limited by means of execution. Everquest has amazing ideas that need to be completely reworked in their execution, in order for classic Everquest as it was envisioned to actually exist and continue to be relevant as things have evolved.

As a side note I've never heard nor seen this to be true regarding illusions resetting worked factions. In fact I've clearly seen the opposite (ruining a faction is not recoverable by illusions, ie I was not KOS to frogloks in guk in gnome illusion till I killed a few, and now no illusion makes me nonkos).

Can any other enchanters or illusion users weigh in on this? Ravager can you explain what you mean a little better? I might not just be understanding exactly what you mean -- I'm reading this as you saying someone whos ruined their faction can use an illusion of another race to avoid their faction history. I suppose that would be possible if you ruin it a "little" and then switch to a race that the person likes more, but it would have to really be a "little" and would not apply to someone who bottomed out their faction (ie fighting for a few hrs in crushbone)
