Why would it be common courtesy to inform the people playing a free emu server about anything? Leave it down for a month IMO. Immersion levels are in the red.

I used to give out sleeping bags at a homeless shelter once, and they were free.
Sometimes we ran out and had to wait on more. When people asked 'hey, any idea when they'll be available again?' I'd make sure and do my best to find out and I certainly wouldn't get uppity against someone for asking - with the attitude of 'shutup bitch, it's free, they'll arrive when they arrive.'

Granted, homeless people and their sleeping arrangements is more grave than a video game, but the underlying principle is the same.

Why give ETAs if you do not stick to them. It's not like they are doing it on purpose.

Amazes me how in one thread people can act all nice and 'caring' about new players but in another, don't have the decency to remind others that sometimes THINGS HAPPEN.

So if I ran a non profit organization where 95% of my members didn't have to pay, does that make it okay not to communicate financials to the 5% of investors? Just because it's free doesn't mean it shouldn't be run like a regular company. The 1,000 people who play this game do like the ability to plan their time accordingly.

Common courtesy wouldn't be common or courteous if it went away simply because something were free. It's also not something "owed" for any reason, whatsoever.
