Also dont forget about Alt Casting, when I am twisting songs I use Alt 1, Alt 2, Alt 3, Alt 4 for my regular lineup and use hotkeys for other songs, specifiably Mez and Lull

While this works, I would suggest new bards make hotkeys for their spells with the following lines:
/stopsong
/cast # [where # is the spell slot]
Then you can just use your 1-8 keys to cast your spells with a single click. I put the main songs I'm going to twist in the earlier slots (1-4) and then keep the lesser utility songs (DA, Selos, etc) in 5 through 8.
#1 advice I'd give is to just pay attention to what other people in your group are doing so that you can learn how to augment the strengths of other classes. Also, since I don't think anyone has brought it up yet, your lower level clarity song works on a pulse as opposed to ticks like other songs, meaning that if you're not paying it for every tick it won't give the mana regen. So if you're playing manasong at lower levels and want max mana regen, you cannot twist any other songs. This sucks prior to getting Cantana, but after you get Cantana it is kind of since since the two stack (1 Cantana, 2 lower level song), rinse/repeat. Also, the lower level manasong won't show up in the spell bar, but it is working.
