Starting points in Sta. You might not want them now, but you will someday, STR is easy to find. It's an extra 75hp at 50, an extra 100hp at 60. Not game changing, but when a single str buff caps you out, you'd rather have those HP.
Yeah, try an extra 40 HP at 60. Really not that big a deal. You and I both went STR and both kinda regretted it, but +25 STA honestly makes no difference on whether you'll survive any given fight. Extra STR comes in handy when you swap STR gear out for resists, too.

I looked up sneak pulling since Rav mentioned it (working on a baby Rogue myself) and thought I'd share:

That safe house post does not totally apply to this server. I am also not completely convinced the author understood exactly how it worked.
On this server you will get no social aggro from mobs who cannot currently see you. Note that sneak radius is greater than 180 degrees, I think about 200-220 degrees. Range attacks do not break sneak ( they do however break hide which will in turn break sneak so do not be hidden). Hide does not help with social aggro at all here. Also distance does not matter for social aggro if you are still in frontal vision of npc. Also keep in mind you can be sneaking so that initially only one aggros but if the mob you pull is still close enough to his friends and you move into their vision you will get social aggro. Being hit by melee or spell( even if resisted ) will break sneak and potentially give you social aggro if mob is still near his friends. Therefore if you want to pull casters this way use very long range or be next to a corner so you can very quickly block Los to prevent cast.

Until you learn an area well you should spend lots of time sneaking and coning mobs to get a feel for how far you can push the limits and still not be in mobs vision with sneak.

Certain on the 40hp thing?

Magelo hp numbers are accurate, change your starting stats. Sta gets tricky becauses there's diminishing returns. Sta up to 115 nets you the most hp. 115+ = ~2 hp per and I think there's yet another drop off point after that.

As a rogue who's over 115 sta, 20 extra points of sta give me 40 hp. Pretty Meh. I like my STR build still, and I'm not gearing for raw STR in Velious. So I probably won't cap it even then.

Cecily is correct on return on STA on I believe. End of day starting stats dont matter that much.
However starting race matters so much. Barbarians are confirmed ugly and should not be allowed to be rogues due to their absurd size... how they hell do you hide when you are a friggin giant. Dorfs footsteps can be heard from miles away, how their so called sneak works on anyone is beyond me.

Amusing story of my starting stats: My friend told me about this server and I had not played EQ since 2001. Having forgot useful information about that game I just rolled the same toon I played back in the day - a halfling rogue. In the character creation screen I saw the developers had conveniently highlighted in green the important stats for the class I had selected so I put most of my points into Dex and Agi. Then for good measure I put a couple of my points into str and a couple into sta since those also seemed relevant for a melee. I don't feel handicapped at all really by this starting choice

Green stats have screwed over so many young rogues. Makes me sad. If you ever have a shot at scoring a primal weapon though... Dex is definitely not wasted points.

I know it is blasphemous on this server but I really wish I could roll a cat rogue. I went back to Live once around 2003 and did not have access to my old rogue at the time. My friends wanted me to start playing again so I took what I had learned bitd and rolled a cat rogue judging by the stats. The cat rogue was awesome as a stat rogue. Was able to solo stuff I would never have thought about when I first started out. Damage output was superior to my old wood elf. Then again, I am talking about leveling performance, not 60 performance. I never got many toons to/past 60.
