I had this awesome urge to play eq again even though I quit cause I had no irl friends who played. I was going to make an ikky monk and sham combo so I don't need to always rely on soloing and waiting on groups...... Only too find out that you are not allowed too 2box.. Not impressed at all.

So I'm forced to start a class that is awesome at soloing.. I'm guessing that the server is already populated by necros and druids because of this one stupid rule..

Or is the server sooooo populated that you will be finding a group to join no matter what level you are. I doubt many are online during my weird hours of play.

So you don't need to rely on soloing and waiting on groups? er 2-boxing is soloing. And even when 2-boxing, and you do group with someone else that is probably 2 boxing too, the little group suffers since it's often a little difficult to have the fastest response times when you are managing multiple characters and watching the characters of the other player. So really, like on PEQ The Grand Creation (top of server list), even when the server was peaking years ago as P99 is now, people multi-boxing were almost always by themselves and actual groups were pretty rare in the general game. Now most of us play here, on one character at a time, and there are always good groups to be had. It's why PEQ is low pop now and here there is a healthy population here, that and the much better pre-pop rules which is a big draw.

I remember back in the day on live, soloing was a big controversy. Dedicated soloers and usually farming with them. Of course modern live, SOE had totally catered to that play-style as time went by, and live population has been dead for many years due to it imo.

But anyway, if you go to the index page of the p1999 wiki and click the 'About Project 1999' link at the top right of the links list, it'll show you a pie chart of the classes rolled on the server. At cap, classes are all pretty close to even apart from maybe rogue, shaman and wizard which are the lowest at cap. So really it's just a matter of what you want to play as opposed to what you think you may be forced to solo... which is far from the case on this server due to the rule against multi-boxing imo.

If you don't want to wait for PUG's, join a guild, they are very active on this server. Same deal like in early live, PUG's are often the wait time hogs, guild groups are less so.
