I played using a 56k modem. My speed was usually like 28k though, damn being out in the boonies back then.

Boxing is classic. Everyone boxed back then and everyone knows it. Everyone had two phone lines and paid for two accounts, and used two different computers because you couldn't do it on the same pc. We all did this, so why not make this game more classic and let us run multiple characters on the same pc? Let us 1 man a hate raid if we want to just like we all six back in the day please. This is just unfair
if you didn't play on 56k AOL and buy your minutes for dial up through them then you never experienced everquest. If you never spent 10 minutes going to character select sceen to just be kicked off from an incoming phone call then you dont know what the fuck classic means. boxing back in the day? seriosuly? I revert back to my AOL comment, 1% had cable or DSL. Fuck off.

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
And I don't even like boxing.

Lmao, this is why this community is so fucked up, is comments like this. If you didn't do what this guy did, it wasn't classic. And his fake statistics to support it.

I dialed up until 2001!
Aol, Juno ... Good times until
"MOM GET OFF THE PHONE!"
Once in a great while you could reconnect before LD was final and save the long load times!
But there was nothing worse than being in a good group and seeing your ping skyrocket over 1000 and your % slowly drop to zero.

/agree

We had dial up also bitd* and could play 2 computers at same time. (or box)
It was laggy on the 2nd computer so we'd F9 to top view for lag free heals.

Even using info on here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_access

would prove more than 1% of the known subs for dial-up / subs for broadband was what is that roughly 13.4% of dial up subs? Now that might not seem like a lot looking at %, but that is roughly 18.5 million people you didn't account for. Now I don't know how or if there is even a way to figure out how many people with dial up/broadband actually played EQ, but considering the annoyance of dial-up, and definitely on MMO gameplay, I would think the number was a lot higher than you imply. I am also trying to figure out if broadband was more common among, let's say, the US then or it's numbers.

Didn't get broadband until about 6 months into Kunark.

My AOL plan was set for unlimited starting in 1996.

We had two landlines playing EQ at the same time before Kunark though.
