I don't know how anyone hasn't mentioned this yet. To make money as a lowbie enc you need to do one thing and one thing only: jewelcraft. Sell silver jewelry for 5pp or 10pp depending on the quality of the gem, sell electrum jewelry for more - fast money. I easily got 100pp to fund my smithing by doing jewelcrafting, which cost negligible plat to get started (though I used some training points on it which some people will say you should save for research), and then I sold banded and made more money still. You can start making silver jewelry at level 8.
Gah! Good idea... thx

Will look for that in first place... I never thought of that to be honest. Surely add some spice to the gameplay too.

How much plat I need to get started?

If you put in 21 training points, none, really, though expect many of your combines to fail early on (the 5pp/item tends to outweigh this, though). If you don't want to put in the training points and you're smart about how you level it up, you'd need maybe 20ish plat to get it to 21 skill (rough estimate, and again, you might be able to make it up altogether by being smart about what you make and how much you sell it for). Look up some guides on jewelcrafting (I found EQtraders and the P99 wiki to be the most useful), do your research, and make some money. You're an enchanter - for God's sake, do some enchanting! I group with all my characters, even the necro. If i wanted to solo all the time id play EQ2.
what i meant was you have 3 other toons that can solo, group full, duo, or join some random 3-4 man ensemble.

So it's pretty silly to worry that the one toon that isnt versitale and needs lightning to strike to gain xp... is umm... struggling.
