Horizons REPRESENT!!!

Gawd that game was barren [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

And I atleast dabbled in every other game listed, except for Final Fantasy XI.

Planetside was a great game that was killed for me with expansion packs. At the time, the idea of forcing players to buy the expansion pack, or GTFO (all fighting moved to the new areas immediately, leaving the old ones barren), seemed to oppressive for my tastes.

And I didn't play WoW, but seriously, WoW isn't listed?

Planetside was god damn amazing back in the glory days. Massive 300 vs. 300 battles that took the better part of a day to finish were a ton of fun. While I still have an active account, sadly it is hardly the game it once was due to low population, poor support and inactive development. I'm anxiously awaiting the mysterious "Planetside 2" game that was announced a few months back.

It would be easier to ask, "Which MMOs haven't you played?" Still nothing compares to classic EQ.

LMAO I'm one of 6 that played Horizons. Yet another game I had such high hopes for...

UO pre-T2A is really the only thing that remotely compares to classic EQ, and even then, only if you ignore PKers/griefers.

Was pleased to see that WoW was not on the list.

Warhammer Online actually had a solid PvP system that was enjoyable, but once it became easy to defeat others in scenarios simply by not zerg rushing to the middle, the game got old fast.

I could spend a ton of time remembering the awesome battles of 200 vs 200 vs 200.

I can't remember what each of the factions were called, so I'll refer to them as Red, Blue, and Purple. But once, as Red, were assaulting a Blue base. And to take the Blue base, you had to take the towers around it to get the spawn points...and some other reason that I can't remember.

So, we spend a good hour of a couple hundred of us assaulting their base, which was required to continue taking the rest of the bases in the continent. However, it was also a vehicle base, so we were up against tanks, fighters, etc. I remember everything about the fight, from an epic battle that raged in the base, with me camping out in one of the Mech Suits on the computer terminal. Which, of course, took like 30 minutes to take fully. I got so much XP as wave after wave of Blues with their jackhammers tried to take us down.

But, the battle wasn't over! After we took the base, we found out that the Purples, with their alien technology, decided to join the fight. So, over a valley we had 3 factions all fighting eachother. It was so laggy, you could hardly aim. It was soo awesome.

But, the battle *still* wasn't over! We pushed back the blues and their now psuedo ally Purples across a bridge, and spent the next hour crossing this bridge with our ground troops and tanks. Finally, after finally destroying their tanks and bombers, we broke their lines and ended up taking the continent.

Yeah, us Reds were way overpowered/populated [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] . I loved the "Anti-Air" Mech suit, that just destroy infantry. So much Hax.

Aww, memories!

Even though the population is like... lets just say there are more people on the R&F fourms than play Planetside at some times during the day, Planetside is still on my list of top 5 funnest games. I have been playing for the greater part of 7 years now and I have absolutely no regrets.

According to the new community relations guy for Planetside, Planetside: Next is still "being worked on" but in typical mm fashion, they "can't talk about it yet." One of my outfit mates was at th SOE Fan Faire this year and ran into Smedley who told him that PS: Next is still in the works.

Keep your fingers crossed, Mr. Rockgroin.
