A lot of black people from the inner city actually don't know how to swim. My GF can't swim either but shes from L.I and her family is wealthy.

1. Their parents did not know how to swim so they could not teach their children something they themselves do not know how to do and the cycle just continues
2. There isnt a whole lot of access to pools as a poor inner city kid unless you go to the local YMCA (but you need to pay the membership fee which they most likely can not afford)
3. If they are in the water its most likely the ocean at the beach and they don't need to know how to swim since they are in such swallow water.

I of course can swim like a graceful dolphin because I am a member of WASP culture.

No you are right it is more of problem in Detroit, not New York/New Jersey tho allot of people here swim in the rivers and every apartment complex has free pool access.
