Speaking of population, we all remember how secretive Sony was with this kinda stuff but I'm curious as to the breakdown of races/classes on the server. For example how many level 5-50's of each class have logged in during the past month? What are the most popular races? Just useless but interesting stats. If it's time consuming don't bother [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

actually, its a good idea for new players to see. If there is a HUGE population of say monks, then its going to become harder for a new monk to get established in the server and become geared out if there are many other monks thats already established and still getting geared (if that made much sense LOL)

Let me start by saying that I agree that it would be wonderful to have all this information. Tehre have been some threads on the topic and the devs actually did give us some rough figures on race and class numbers a while back.

The problem is the amount of metrics that are involved in getting information that's even remotely helpful. I'll give you a few examples:

Each account can have up to 8 characters on it.
Many characters are simply mules being used to hold quest and tradeskill items and such. There are many banker bots of varying levels that get used on a daily basis.
Many characters have been inactive for months.
What levels should be included?
Having 2000 Wizards between levels 1-10 does not necessarily constitute a large wizard population.
etc...

You see where I'm going with this. Simply using raw numbers and not doing any sort of logic will give you results that would not reflect accurately on the actual status of the server population. And from what I understand the devs have their hands full as it is with current issues as well as the next expansion.

I would say characters 10+ or maybe even 20+ and ones that have been active for the last month, and it could possibly updated once a week. I am not sure how easy/hard this is, I would suspect that a script could be made to evaluate characters that have logged on and sort it into some type of list.

Thank being said, I dont expect the GMs to do it any time soon, since they are busy with the new expansion (for our server) and most all of their attention is devoted to that and its great that it is. But after the expansion, it would be nice to see if we can get it going.
