If you're not exchanging anything how would it be considered a transaction and not a donation, which is exactly what it is. Good luck having anyone tune in. Watching p99 streams for less than 5 minutes made me realize why I stopped playing.

You won't be a full time streamer off of anything eq
If you are holding item give always each session and there is a donate button, then there is an avenue for discreet RMT in broad daylight ^^

Tido had a good system running, I haven't seen him stream recently but he had a jboots MQ to give away and used his in stream currency to do it.

Essentially, the more you watched him stream the more currency you had (although you could gamble it and lose it all if unlucky [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.])...so regular watchers had a good opportunity to win, and the "man off the street" still had a chance.

Donations were treated completely separately with no rewards, just as a way of saying thanks to him for his content (which is high quality!). [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I think he even checked with the GMs to make sure what he was doing was legit and okay.

So if you run it along those lines I'm sure you'd be fine. There's enough RNF potential in the community to catch you RMT'ing and seeing you get banned if you stray off that path I'd say [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Just as an aside... the best scheme to date was on red... where you could buy items for Sektor's wedding for pixels (Amazon wishlist style), and you can probably guess how that ended lol.

I'd have to agree with swish. There's a fine line with masking stream give aways with RMT and just doing give aways. But there's no real way to track it on the GM side. I've done give aways on my stream and I've gotten donations while streaming. GMs haven't made any rules against it but if you're concerned about it I'd PM one to cover your ass if you're worried or suspect foul play.

You can make money on people watching you play a game? I clearly went into the wrong business. I foolishly became and electrical engineer [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Who in their right mind would pay someone to watch them play a video game when they can go over to their greasy neighbor's house and watch them play video games for free?

The top League of Legends streamers have 15k+ viewers and pull in over 300k a year through viewer donations.

its entertainment. the best channels are as much about the host personalities, guests, and talk as they are about the games. its more like watching a talk tv channel about a video game.

there are crappy ones too...but the top ones are actually worth while content to donate to if you are watching/enjoying them.
