So you combine these runes to create a spell scroll, and in order to do that you use this Lexicon that looks like a red book. The Lexicon is a 4 slot container with a combine button on it.

Conjecture:
All the research containers should be like this. The container itself didn't appear on Allakhazam until around 2003 and wasn't updated to 10 slots until sometime between 2006 and 2007. I think there was a spell research overhaul with LoY in 2003 that required the larger container. Anyone have any further details?
