Many, many years ago my father told me about the degradation of language. I was too young, and at the time, the Internet didn't even exist, but his point has always stayed with me. This conversation was stemming from a lecture a principal gave me about responding with "yea" instead of "yes".
Google "degradation of english language". Very interesting reads. Read any written letters or speech's written prior to say circa 1900. Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is a great example. It is incredibly rare to find such poetic writings nowadays.
