Red is definitely different. I'm only 31 so only experienced low level stuff, so I can't say much about high end pvp.

There are way fewer people. While camps are more open, this reduces your options for groups. Particularly with the group xp bonus, there is no reason to not group. Also with the bonus people out level dungeons very fast, so you have really one option for each level range to group since the pool is so small. Crushbone, then Unrest pre 25, mistmoore to 40, com after that. However, you will level much faster than blue, even with terrible group compositions.

Fewer people means fewer of all kinds of people. While most people are helpful on red, there are still more helpful people on blue just due to sheer population advantage. There are fewer psychopaths/idiots on red, but it's easier for them to affect your gaming outing. If you don't care about yt and have thick skin it's really not bad, but you will run into some wackjobs.

Buying stuff, ports, research, all are painful on red. It's really not worth it to try and camp items appropriate for your level either, as you could spend that hour getting 2 or 3 levels

If you start on red i recommend cleric, you'll always have a group and wanted in guilds 50+

Fewer psychos on red? Methinks you're confused.

I jumped over to rad for the weekend. It's been amazing! Rolled a human monk and got up to 6 in no time. Love rad experience btw. Only seen two other players so far too.

Rad server is the way to go, a place where the world is yours!

Red is pretty fun and it's a much different experience than blue. It's not a bad choice if the game has gone stall for you waiting on Velious.
