I know this will blow your mind but he can also spawn in East Karana [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

(Well at least he should be able to, like he did on live.)

Ancient Cyclops in South Karana ? That's a rumor from live.

It never spawned in SK on live. It is an undead cyclops and people just think it is the same thing.

After I don't know 2 months real life time in south karana on eq live, not one person ever shouted ancient cyclops is up. I also never saw it. The alla mob list doesn't show it either. Noone has a picture of it on eq live either.

On P1999 it may spawn , that may have been added. I can not confirm this. If I saw it I would SS it.

Ok, I've done this quest 23 times, either for my characters or friend's characters. So, let me give you what I've found out:

South Ro: Easy spawn, easy kill, high chance of KS, unfortunately. Best time is to do it late at night (real night) or very early morning (5am) when fewer people are on. The AC is substantially lower in level and hp's here than in OOT -- a level 35 caster or 35+ melee should be able to take it down.

To get it to spawn in SRo, kill the rares: a crypt mummy, a madman a giant rattlesnake, etc.. Otherwise, it's completely random. When you kill a rare, another rare spawns fairly quickly, so the more rares you kill, the better chance you have of getting the AC. I've done this about 10 times, and have gotten the AC to spawn within a couple of hours every time just by killing rares. Time of day, time of night, whether there's a SG up or not doesn't matter. Just kill the rares.

OOT: Hard to get the camp, much higher level, but very little chance of ks'ing. People respect the camp here, and I've only seen one case of ks'ing in all the time I've been in OOT. Spawn is every 6-7 minutes (I say that because it used to be 7 minutes, but seemed faster the last time I camped it). When you zone in, check to see if he's camped (probably is) and get on the list. Spend your time killing seafurbies while you wait. Best times to find the camp empty are early morning -- 5am is perfect.

Keep killing ph's, and you'll eventually get him to spawn. PH's are: a cyclops, Broog Mudtoe, a pirate, a aqua goblin (although a cyclops is much more common than the others). I've done this camp solo as a 48 mage, 45 druid, and 49 wizzie. Other times, I grouped with guildies to help them get the ring. If you can kill a seafury, you can kill the AC. If you can't, then go to sro.

East Karanas: I've seen him here twice, and both times someone was killing cyclops just prior to his spawn. My suspicion is that he's keyed off of the Broon, Droon, Proon cycle. However, given how many different types of critters are in the zone, it's possible that killing rares will spawn him.

The two times that I've seen him, he's seemed to be the same level as the sro cyclops, but neither time was I able to do more than con him -- he went down to people camping druids. However, that alone tells me that he's not seafury level (since the druid camp is really only good up to 29 or so).

Good luck!

1 person , in 11 years of eqlive has said they killed the AC in southkarana. 1 person. You think they were maybe just messing with people ? yes.

Noone has ever had a picture of the AC in sk ever on eqlive. I spent months there in the classic days and noone ever mentioned killing the AC. Sure people shouted that he could spawn there but no evidence. go to eq live clear the entire zone 20000 times and an AC will not spawn. Because he isn't on any spawn table in that zone. EK sure Sk no.

That's cool, I'll take your word for it. I'm just quoting somebody else.

Rachel, yer SRo interpretation is wrong. Sony posted the Sro AC script (and u can find the thread here on P99 in the Bugs forum). The script clearly shows the AC as the *Night Spawn*.

Also there is only 1 mob you have to keep under lockdown. It requires a little work becuz there are 3 mobs you kill for the first rotation, THEN you lock the AC cycle down to 1 mob every 30 minutes. You essentially hafta *not kill* the PH if he spawns at 7am in order to kill at 11am so it respawns at 9pm (nite time). It requires a little more work, but the spawn chance is significantly higher in Sro, AND the mob itself is easier.

Plus I like goin AFK for 29 mins at a time rather than having to non-stop kill shit every 6 minutes. Lets me get work done around the house as I camp the AC lol

Acillatem is correct. That is how the spawn functions on Live. It may have been changed on this server but I hope it wasn't :/. Silly to change how spawn mechanics worked, thats not very 'classic'.
