One thing that ruined every modern era Star Trek movie from First Contact onwards was the insistence on adding "cinema funnies", poor one liners and really exaggerating things like Data's emotion chip or whatever.
This definitely isnt one for the purists, and if they ever attempt another TV series I can only hope it's nothing like this.
