You should try entering your character into the wiki magelo. http://wiki.project1999.com/Magelo_Blue

Dump the moonstone rings for two enchanter made hp/ac rings. At some point make the trip to KC, not to exp, but to loot a Supple Scale Armband from a hands group. Make a few IVU potions before you go.

Past that save every dime you have for Fungi, because that is the real game changer. And past that is Torpor.

Also, there is a wizard quest that is quite useful for shamans: http://wiki.project1999.com/Tarton's_Wheel

It results in the item Star of Eyes that is a clicky from inventory. If you put your canni in spell slot 1 and then click your Star of Eyes, canni will become availble to use far faster that waiting for the normal spell gem refresh. The best way I've seen to do this is to make hotbar button 1 be spell gem 1 (canni), and hotbar button 2 be the inventory slot with your Star of Eyes. Then, map both hotbuttons in keybindings to the + on numpad. Proceed to mash the + button.
This is what I love about this server. You don't get cool stuff like this in modern games where they are constantly seeking (never attaining) perfect balance and very specific gear progression.

How bad ass is it to sneak into a dungeon and loot a no-drop item? No "you can't enter this" or being the only one in your instance.

Then cool tricks like that for resetting the spell gem timer. I know it is lame if everyone knows about it and it is the difference between being able to be effective or not but when it doesn't break the game completely I love that.
