On raids pets are fine in Kael.

On Phinny they have these new NPCs called Shade of DRAGONNAME, that are charmable ghosts in VP.

The NToV drakelings should be charmable but they are flagged not charmable for some reason on here.

The thing is, on P99, pulls happen so quickly that setting up with a charmed pet isn't viable. And in the one area where it may be (AoW), extra aggro/entities just cause more desynches.

Honestly the only reason I would want to spend more on my enchanter's gear is for more HP to survive more Stun resist or interrupts in PoM. But being level 53, levels would be far more helpful in that endeavor than raw HP would be.

Pet pathing really isn't that bad on P99 though. Maybe in Sebilis it is. But most every other zone it's fine.

I'm quite commonly top dps in raids due to charmed pets and I'm not afraid to use them and push the limits of them. Chanters can still really shine on a lot of raids. Yes I know charm isnt going to be usable on all of them.

They are also still one of the most powerful solo classes outside of raids too. Yeah average level and MR goes up in velious but it's still very much doable.

Maybe your raid enchanters don't charm or their raid leaders don't let them though? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Bottom line is people are giving chanter's a bad rap in velious and you are seeing their numbers dropping because of it. But you know what. They are a whole lot more upset when there are no chanters at all.

Camp the chanter, switch to the rogue still the less stressful option. But I am glad someone is sticking up for them. Best class in any game ever!

I still use my enchanter for all kinds of stuff including solo/duo/trio in PoM. I'm just not gonna advocate spending multiple thousands of plat to get marginal increases in gear.

Best dropable mask was Dragon Scaled Mask. Enchanters only charmed on raids in velious in plane of growth and sleeper's tomb...you technically can in kael but not worth it same with some other low end targets like velketor...

I don't know how this 'Enchanters are terrible in Velious' meme got started, but its just silly IMO.

Its not like Enchanters weren't buff bots in Kunark. VP had 0 charmable mobs, the outdoor dragons dispelled and feared, and no one had time to clear down to Trakanon with a platoon of krup knights. There were a few exceptions, most notably the horses in Sky, but they were few and far between. Enchanters are arguably actually better on Velious raids because so many raid targets are slowable and/or come with massive Druid buffs. Tash and 4 slot dispell are both awesome there.

And its not as though Enchanters are suddenly bad at farming the group zones. You can charm in Sirens, Kael, DN, and POM, and in all cases the charmed pets tear up. Drakkel Dire Wolves Kael are worth like 2 rogues each! Add in the usual buffs and debuffs and pretty much any good 3-4 man group will include an enchanter.

So what's changed? I think two things. First, Enchanters can't really SOLO much Velious content like they could in HS/Seb. Velious is just too high level; you can't calm/charm/ae mez L55+ stuff. So you need to actually, you know, make friends with Shamans, Monks, Clerics, etc. Second, Velious is melee candyland. Most of the hardcore players in raid guilds are doing it to gear out a monk/warrior/rogue. Caster itemization in Classic EQ is just shit. It wasn't until Luclin with focus effects that raid gear really started to make a difference. And being the only enchanter on a raid really sucks, because you get totally overwhelmed with buff requests.

TLDR: Enchanters rock Velious just fine if you aren't intent on facerolling your keyboard.

My point was that gear has nothing to do with being able to do any of these things. as long as you can hit the cha caps and have SOME hp gear you can participate in any of these activities. I dont sign up for the enchanters are useless in this expac but trying to say their gear matters very much is silly. After you have all your clickies and hp gear, you are better off using money on other characters or something.

Or more clickies.

Wort Pots
Reaper
WC Cap
Wand of Allure
Puppet Strings
Prayer of Life

All of these will provide more value to a soloing enchanter than dropping 100k for each BIS tradeable upgrade you go for.

Personally I think the Wand of Allure is vastly undervalued for how common and relatively cheap to recharge it is. Especially if you cannot afford puppet strings.

Wort pots are just ridiculous when you have a few of them too.
