I rarely see Shamans at lower levels.

Is it easyer to find healers or tanks on this server when forming a group?

Why do you say warriors suck? On EQlive warriors were the number one tank. Well they were the top tanks for raids but pally and sk may have been better group tanks.
There's a 6-page-or-so thread on these forums that boils down to "Warriors are slightly better raiding tanks, Paladins and SKs are slightly better grouping tanks, but as a tank you'll never be turned down due to being one or the other."

I wonder if people ask this question in the hope that they'll be somehow "different" or "wanted". Trust me you will not feel that way once youve been playing your underplayed class a while. There are some good reasons why they are underplayed and once you discover these for yourself you may regret your class selection and just end up playing the class you really wanted to in the first place.
I see it more about balancing out the game, because some people would like to see ALL of the classes represented with decent numbers, despite how much they may suck.

If you're worried about rolling an over played class and no one wanting to group with you or any guilds wanting you - roll a cleric. Seriously. Every group needs/wants one and no guild will turn away a decent one.

Other than that - just about every class is going to run into situations where a group or guild is saturated with that class at some point. It's hard to predict what is going to be needed days, weeks or months from now. That being said, play what you enjoy.

Rogue and Ranger seem to be heavily underplayed. Mag/Nec/Dru are heavily overplayed.

That being said, play what you enjoy. Most of the overplayed classes are ones that can solo well, so if that's your preference then go for it.

Don't kid yourself. You can get a Rogue PLed to 50 in a week for only 50k - come Kunark, everyone is gonna have a Rogue alt PLed. Don't level a Rogue.

This is a fact. If you enjoy being needed, play the cleric. I joined the server the 2nd week of November and played just about every class a few levels and some more. Since my mains were a druid, cleric, rogue and shaman on other servers, I wanted something fresh and really always wanted to try a wizard.

In past years, this class would have bugged me but at age 45, kids, travel for work, this class fits me now. He is just starting out but I actually look forward to logging him in which I was missing the past few weeks with the other classes. I think it will take me a long time to level though but that is ok. I see mages and druid blowing by me in levels in a few hours. I haven't grouped yet with him but I hope to later tonight (assuming people group with Wizards) as I have yet to group with a wizard yet on this server.

As for classes played, it is difficult to determine with so many anonymous people but when I do a who all class, the only ones (8pm PST or later) that I see with 20 or less are in this order: 1) Ranger, 2) Rogue, 3) Paladin and 4) Wizard. A few times I have seen Shadow Knights with 20 or less as well.

Your schedule sounds like mine other than maybe time zones. Try a few classes like Necro, Druid and Shaman (there are a lot of shamans out there and especially Trolls). See if you like any and go from there. Or pick a melee and test it to level 6 (bards are in high demand I read but that can change).

Good luck and welcome to this server. Very nice people overall so far.

From what I remember on live, you only had to be one step above drooling and any guild would accept you, and if you had your epic you could spam /gu in broken spanish afk for hour intervals during raids and still get into even the best guilds.

On the flip side, it was always nice to meet a cleric that could play their class well. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I started a Troll Shaman a few weeks ago and while in innothule swamp /
would show like 30 players and 9/10 would be newbie Shamans.

Now I'm lv. 14 and I keep joining groups where there's more than 1 Shaman, no biggie because we can split the buffs and keep the tanks healed, just saying there seems to be a lot of us.
Odd, I haven't grouped with a single shaman in CB yet. A lot of it has to do with location. Especially at early levels, certain classes will be a lot more common in certain areas than others.

Crushbone is a few zones away from Halas.

Evil races don't generally want to hop on a boat in a quest to ruin their Neriak faction in Crushbone, especially since they start a gnome-toss away from Guk and Oasis.

Part of the old-school crushbone charm is the fact that, out of necessity, you see Ranger and Paladin tanks, crazy druid healing/tanking groups, and all sorts of wackiness based on the limited number of classes/races that start on Fayder. You honestly don't bump into a lot of evil races and humans and barbs until at least Unrest, where the loot/xp makes non-Fayder class/race combos actually hitch a port or a boat ride to check it out.
