I didn't know about the original P1999 release until several years afterwards, so I too feel like I missed out on the "hardcore" EQ classic experience. While I would love to do it I worry about what releasing another server would do to the blue population. I think the server population is pretty healthy where it's at averaging around 1k players and I don't think I'd want to risk further fragmenting that with a fresh server.
People would continue playing on both simultaneously, plus the green server would dump back into blue at end of timeline anyway

Pre-nerf fungi staff is kind of lame if you always have a pocket shaman / druid. I sold mine because I never used it, and it quit being fun once they nerfed your ability to cast it on group members. Being able to snare other monks on the pull team to be annoying was what I used it for 99% of the time after the initial novelty wore off. I think it only really makes sense for necro or ench, and with a VP staff and elder beads, it even loses some of its utility to a necro as well.

People get way too tripped up about legacy items. The appeal of a fresh server is more about the low-mid level heavy population and classic-only zones. It's a way different EQ experience.

Yea :< The fun of getting your first rusty weapon and getting someone to make it into a tarnished one!!!

Or the first fine-steel weapons on the server after a day or two appear!! And it isn't vendor trash...it is the best weapons in the game!!

Or the first magic weapons that begin to drop....suddenly those people are able to hurt ghouls in unrest!!

And actually doing class armor quests!! And weapon quests!! Or starting off as a crafter early and making banded armor for people!!!!!

Oh the first couple weeks / couple months of a fresh server are so fun :3 There is huge reason to spread out and hunt in other zones and actually try to get loot (not just exp as fast as you can).

I could care less about items. I just like the idea of the old school vanilla experience.

Arrow Answered on Reddit

Almost 2 weeks ago this was addressed on the P99 subReddit.

Someone asked about a new blue and you can see Rogean's reply right below it.

Looks like there will be a new blue at some point, but it's still TBD.

My opinion on a new server and a server wipe.

You do a server wipe and I would say about 75% of the population wouldn't restart playing again.

You start a new server and it would just be a shopping store that opens early for the day after Thanksgiving sale. You would see about a 1,000 people running and hording manastones, 'guise masks and everything else that either gets nerfed or removed in later patches.

I also think majority of the people would be making characters that doesn't require a lot of gear or equipment such as Necros and Monks.
