On live I sold a tunnel rat on Terris thule by the name of Acoloss a fungi tunic, accept I put a cloth tunic in the trade window and he clicked trade. Two days later I saw him kiting in DL still wearing the cloth tunic while on my main. I felt kind of bad when he said it was his birthday :/

I had a friend who had thoroughly ruined the reputation of his druid already and had pretty much quit playing it. I had started fairly recently and was just hitting the 40s on my monk and starting the RotLC quest. I tried for quite awhile to get the camp, but someone always seemed to be there. So, knowing the druid was already persona non grata, I bound him up at raster, hung around and buffed the guy camping it and got the timer of the PH. Then I went and farmed tower for a bit, routinely checking track when the spawn was due. When I saw raster up I gated and the guy at the camp still hadn't engaged, so I nuked the shit out of it and looted the idol for MQ later.

Feel like kind of a scum bag about it now, especially since I've legit camped raster at least 3 times since then and know how much that camp can suck, but I was like 13 which I feel kind of excuses the self centered and inmaturity of it.

I also used to get a kick out of framing people for training. Me and a buddy used to have a competition seeing how many people we could get blamed for trains by essentially setting up train ambushes, and then dropping mobs on the unsuspecting target without them realizing what we did (would feign into walls a lot to do this, also use a lot of z-axis aggro). Again, we were like 13 year old first world anarchists, and causing chaos in EQ was on the same humor level as crank calls and fart jokes. I remember one guy in Lguk who we got that wiped like 2 groups and basically got yelled at by the entire zone. Dude was 100% a victim of circumstance, but god damn did we get a kick out of the ensuing chaos.

Not really one per se. Back around Velious going forward, I used to post ad's on playerauctions or find people wanting to trade accounts. I would chat them up on AIM for awhile and represent or show a magelo for a character I didn't own. It was amazing how easy it was to do the old "Ok, you give me your station name first, Ill give you mine. Give me your password then, Ill give you mine." I'd always give them an account with a level 1. In return, I'd always come out with some of the best accounts available. Most people were stupid especially considering I was 15 at the time. I would resell them or run around aimlessly not knowing what the fuck I was doing.

Cool Bought a cleric

The stupidest thing I ever did was spend 2000 on a cleric on Rallos Zek. I found one of you assholes ([You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]) to sell me his cleric pre-kunark for $2000. That was a ton of money but I also was very young making a ton of money, and it was actually worth it to me as opposed to spending the time it would have taken me pre-kunark to buy a cleric. He also had the only server "Weight of the Gods" which was an amazing item pre-kunark, and it was bugged so it hardly ever dropped. So again, 2k was a good deal to me back then.
SO, I bought the cleric and he gave me the account info once I emailed him a copy of my cashiers check and proof that I've sent it. I played on the cleric for a couple days and re-dinged him to 50. The next day I tried to log in and couldn't.
He then stopped responding to me, both in email and in game. I realized I was being scammed and called Verant, who told me to stuff it and their EULA protected them.
So I called the police and filed a report, and the cop told me its a federal matter. So I called the local FBI office and talked to the guy there, who tried to dismiss me. He told me he would open an investigation once 10k in losses had occurred, so I told him I would find 8k worth of other people to file a complaint vs the kid and vs Verant. He said he would open a case if so. I then got him to search the FBI database for the kid and Verant, to which there was nothing (yet, in my mind). The FBI recommended I also file with the Federal Trade Commission, the Securities Exchange Commission, and my local State Attorney General. All of them took my call and opened a complaint.
So I called Verant back and this time told them I had filed complaints with the FTC, the SEC, and my state Attorney General, and this time I talked to their executive management.
So Tom tells me his EULA protects him, and I told him I have NEVER clicked OK on it as I always hit escape (it was faster than clicking). Sure as shit, I had never clicked OK. So they clone the character for me (they were being bought by Sony at the time and didn't want the negative situation going on while in that process) if I promise never to tell anyone about it (Sorry Tom!).
Other people know what went on on the server, and in the Rallos Zek first Best of the Best he and I met as our teams healers and I crushed him. I also had a friend offer to fly down to Houston and 'break' the kid, but I got my character back so that kid got real lucky. ; )
Just about every person on RZ that got their toon scammed messaged me on my cleric to ask me what I did. "Be resourceful" I told them. =P

By far the stupidest (and therefore worst) thing I've ever done in that game.

This all sounds like a bunch of bullshit. Especially " I then got him to search the FBI database for the kid and Verant"

The blue pages in old phonebooks had the number to your local FBI office, and the policeman who took the police report told me how to find it. When I got the guy to realize that I could put up a website to try to find another 8k in losses and that I was serious, he told me to file the reports with the SEC, FTC and Attorney General. I then told him I thought the kid or Verant might have already had cases opened against them, so I had him run the database checks. As he reluctantly did them, he said "do you have any idea how much this is costing" but honestly I didn't care.
Tom Terrazas was the person I got transferred to when I called Verant. I bet he actually remembers the story because I had to use a number of legal arguments to convince him that I could cause them serious headaches. I also had a friend who freelanced for the LA Times and was interested in doing a story about online property and was dying to use my example. I told him (Tom) I could make his company the poster child for online property sales, and that's when they did a few things to mature about IP in their game.
Besides cloning my character he also agreed that they would pull all EQ items off of Ebay through a Cease and Desist, which they did. They also fixed their EULA to make it so hitting escape would no longer move you to the login screen. So 3 things (including the character clone) they did to remediate the situation.
When this happened I was young and dumb and knew no better about online property sales. I really DID always hit escape on the EULA and had no idea I couldn't buy someone elses toon that they built and save my own hours. Ebay had ~3,000 items matching "everquest" when I searched it back then- I honestly thought there was a recognized online economy for the game. Ive since learned how stupid I was- hence this being my example. =P

Left my computer on in ec tunnel for almost 2 weeks on xev server until i became moderator of the trade channel (i dont remember how that happened exactly, i think it was time spent in channel).

Proceeded to lock said channel and people had no channel to auction for almost 2 days before gms reacted.

Received RL death threats on my main for almost a month following that event.
