I'm only asking here because I thought maybe the research was already done and for other reasons they chose not to do it.

Which this guy seems to be implying below:
Can you imagine the shit show and wipes during hardcore raiding? Especially to begin with. If only for that reason I'd love to have seen no duck/cancel til the proper patch ^^

Proof you couldn't instantly cancel a spell by ducking? See patch note below. Before the patch you had to be ducking by the time the spell finished casting for it to interrupt, but you could duck all you wanted during the cast and it would still continue and successfully cast if you were properly standing at the end of the timer. It would also allow people to click items and sit down to med and as long as you were properly standing at the end of the clickie cast time it would work. Excellent for Donal's BP and other long cast time items.

As to OP, this has been raised numerous times.

In sum, red shouldn't be able to sit.

So that means if they did decide to allow sitting etc. while casting, the downside would be being unable to instantly interrupt casting by ducking. And at this point, it's far enough along in the timeline to just forget about it, because the change to disallow sitting etc. while casting was implemented late-Velious, which inadvertently caused the ability to instant duck-interrupt. If they decided to change it to be classic now, it'd have to be undone in a few months anyway.

And yeah, as Ele stated it should be removed from red before the end of the Velious timeline.

Okay cool, thanks for finding that old thread for me.
so nilbog 100% agrees with me, I was right, others already found the proof, there's no need for me to look for the proof.
However the code for it never got written and now it's pointless because in a few months it would need to be disabled anyways. Because there is proof that it was changed in june 2001.

I do hope we get this feature for p99 green though, which might run for a few years of classic/kunark where ducking shouldn't work and item-meditating should. So, I guess if any gm's discover the code for this in a dream, they can take note of that, and save it for green server's classic launch. (If p99 green is still being worked on that is.)

Thanks again for finding that old thread from 2010, it answers all my questions perfectly.

Well, the code was written since it's already been implemented on red, but for whatever reason they didn't also implement it on blue. Which is a shame - all those poor nerds CotH-ducking for hours on end shouldn't have been able to CotH-duck at all.

if you truly love classic, you will use the honor system and never duck a spell

Even worse, why can't we forage when sitting?

You can sit when interacting with a banker or a vendor but you can't forage?

The stupidity of some of SOE's decisions (we did it because MUDS did it this way logic) never ceases to amaze me....

Mostly agree. Should have to crouch to forage.

Try and go out into the woods and forage for food while sitting, its not possible. To sit and talk is nice.
