Aleksei Arkhipovsky

Sure he doesn't play guitar, exactly, but give him a guitar and I wonder what he can make!

As far as actual guitarists.. I dunno - I'd say Zakk Wylde, just because I grew up listening to Ozzy.

or Peter Townshend.

Ehhhhhh..

It's realtively easy to sound amazing, playing solo on an effected 12 string guitar with open tuning. Definitely not one of the best! :P

I kinda like that you put RK after I put AS tho. Hehehe.

BIG thumbs up on Django!

Familiar with Joe Bonamassa at all?

Personally, I'm sentimentally attached to Garcia, Hendrix and Vaughn (must be my middle-aged white guys biases showing themselves) but, really, this is a bit like asking which beer is your favorite - the choice of simply one is too much to make!

It goes with out saying, though that none of us would be able to have this discussion without Les Paul. We owe it all to him.

Lindsey Buckingham. When he left Fleetwood Mac back in the 80's, they had to hire two guitarist to take his place in the band.

His acoustic version of Big Love.
His acoustic version of Go Insane.

He reworked both of them from how they were originally produced.

This is my favorite version of that song actually, because this guy's dynamics are fucking amazing. Listen to this and that john butler guy who you posted, see the difference.
