Personally I hate using either one. I also disagree with the reasons why raid guilds use it. It's part of the game and should never change tho.

Personally if we have 30ish or so people in sky/fear/hate, and /rol other guilds will come up there not knowing were there and try and leach or work off of what we've been clearing.

Having 30 people or so in a raid zone, and not /anon or /rol it pretty much shows you have the zone on lock down and people won't bother you. It's much eaiser to tell your guild people are already there with a big force, as compared to getting everyone there buffed and zoned in.

I mean, really like everyone doesn't know what the respawn time window on gods/dragons zones? Everyone has friends in every guild and can get that info easy.
We have tracked, mobilized and killed Vox, draco, CT and inny before any other guild knew they up. DA has done the same to us on vox. The respawn window is *4 days long* on these mobs.

No one takes a whole raid force to a zone on accident because they didn't realize another guild was there.

This is what I was thinking.

I get the feeling that somewhere in my original post, people got the idea that I was insinuating that /role should be taken out?! Don't know where people got that idea from. /role is obviously classic. I just want to know peoples OPINIONS on the use of /role. Personally, i'd like to see the use of it stopped, if for no other reason than I have to do /who all gukbottom, then ask a random person to do a CC for me to find out if raster is camped by some anon/role monk. Other situations apply: 45+'s in Mistmoore obviously camping damphe/lasna, etc. Just saves time knowing who is where.

Default /Roleplay

I really don't like to be rude. Unfortunately I am sometimes forced to be considered as such if I am busy trying to accomplish something and someone believes that you should give up your time or your groups time to Buff/Rez etc.

I have been called names from people who walk into a camp that my group is working and expect me to give them a rez as my party is desperately fighting off a difficult situation. I find that I don't have to put them or me in a situation that would cause bad feelings. This is not the norm, and I am always willing to help out anyone who asks, if it does not conflict with the time I have available.

When I am available I never have /anon or /roleplay on. I think that is just bad form.

I also believe that a guild or group is well within their rights to go /roleplay so as not to advertise their intentions.

My only frustration would be that /roleplay /anon works on people in your guild as well....I would like to be able to see who in your own guild is what level/location without haveing to ask.

This would save me some grief as well. Guild tool was a great addition to EQ, imo.

If guild didn't have /anon/role available... ya think they'd be doing like a distraction raid? like log their alts into Hate making other guilds think Inny is up... then switching to the real target? Probably not, but that'd be funny if it worked.

Anyhow, I play a cleric and enchanter. I've yet to /role or /anon. For me, if i'm not busy i'll help others... if i'm busy i tell them i can't help. No one has gotten mad at me for not helping them. Maybe, I'm just lucky.

Bottom line, /role/anon doesn't bother me but I wish when you did a / all 'zone' that it'd give you the real number of people in the zone. I don't need their name or who specifically is there. Just how crowded it is.

I need a 5th option to vote on... "Don't give a shit"

As a cleric I put up role to indicate that I am otherwise busy and not available to run across 10 zones to rez your entire party for 20p.

As far as raids and clerics/druids/wizards go though, obviously (or should be obviously...) if you are in Sky/Hate/Fear, you presumably won't be getting tells from people in guk for res's/ports...

So go ahead and take em off on raids~
