Negotiation, if any, come before the purchase; not when writing the check. The trade window is the exchange already agreed upon. That would be annoying for someone to decide to haggle after the price had been agreed upon.

No one is grandstanding, everyone is just explaining (something we all know) that it's a scummy thing to do, therefore making you scum. Enjoy your small plat discounts, and your lack of moral character and standing in the community.

Haggling the price if an item through tells is perfectly fine and even standard on some items to a certain extent. Putting less than the agreed-upon price into the trade box hoping that they don't notice is akin to stealing. It would be like getting to the front of the line at the grocery store and at the last second switching a $20 bill for a $10 bill while paying and hoping that the cashier doesn't notice.
It's a scumbag move and if you see someone doing it repeatedly name and shame them here | ||

What Dad is describing is best analogous to switching the price labels on items at a garage sale, then assuming the seller noticed but didn't care and calling it "haggling". Anyone that thinks cheating is ok based on the fact they come out on top probably has a dysfunction and needs help.
