Eh, if that's the problem you're having just use Mind Wipe (aoe mem blur) after you mez. As long as the tank breaks mez with something besides auto-attack the mob won't even look at you.

Its still viable. You guys must be terrible on your enchanters. AoE stun > all.

How could you even have a problem? ;/

I didn't post this to start a huge whine fest about the new charm. My point was:

1) The charm nerf was totally a decision of the developers, who thought enchanters were getting too much XP charm soloing. We don't have any logs for real durations during classic, and the current system is totally different anyway.

2) Charm soloing near zones for good XP works almost as well as it did before, and is certainly much better than grouping.

3) Charm for grouping is annoying as hell now.

4) Since the system isn't doing what the developers want, maybe they should change the system.

5) Said change is not going to happen, but I feel better after posting my idea anyway.

silly chanters, didnt any of u play classic? chanters are not pet classes and they are not solo classes.

during this era they have always been group support classes.

Welcome to Kunark!
There were no mechanic changes between kunark and velious as far as charm went. Then in velious enchanters were charming everything.... The only thing that changed was knowledge.

I do not support the OP because I would like to be able to find a group.

My suggestion is that every time a mob is charmed it loses a cumulative -10 MR. So charm soloing is basically unaffected, but in a group as you continue to recharm and recharm you gradually end up with a more malleable pet.
This don't make sense from a "logical," point of view... If say some random magic user- charms a victim and finally the charm breaks. Would not the victim wonder ... Why they were so bent on doing anything the caster wanted? Prior exposure would make the victim MORE resistant not less.

And sure i believe there should be some middle ground. The people that are saying they have no problem are the ones who are stacking RM debuffs.

Signed. So disheartening playing for days of playtime, only being level 53, and feeling like my character is dead.

I was in a KC basement group the other day, we had a shaman for slows and a bard was pulling/mezzing.

This meant I got to stand up and refresh haste/C2 every 20 minutes. That's it.
Serously? You can hold a pet while soloing, but with a shammy for malo in your grp and a healer that backs you up, you are not able to hold a charmpet? Keep tash + malo always up on the pet, it makes a huge difference.

I think solo charm is annoying as hell now cause sometimes i get like 3 charmbreaks in one fight, while in grps with a mage or sham its way better.
