And when you turn around and act like anyone who does auctions any other way than "WTS xxxx item for 400p NO MORE NO LESS NO TRADES" it must mean the person is a greedy bastard trying to screw you, you too become an asshole. | |||

![]() The person who mentions price first LOSES.
Scenario 1: Seller who would part with item for 5K: make offer Buyer: I dunno. 6K Seller who would part with item for 5K: cool, meet me at T1 Scenario 2: Buyer who would pay 5K for item: what are you selling it for? Seller: I dunno. 4K Buyer who would pay 5K for item: I only got 3.5K on me... that cool??? Seller: Fine, meet at T1

![]() I agree completely.
when they tell you to make an offer, and you make an offer and it goes ignored they clearly have a number in mind, which pisses me the fuck off, if you have a number in mind just say so when you auction, and at the very least when I take the time to make you an offer like you asked don't just ignore me thats just a retarded negotiating tactic, I will give you an example of of how this does work on this server, and of how it SHOULD work lets say someone wants to sell a mithril 2 hander, and would like to get 2k for it, and throws out a "WTS Mith 2 hander" auction with no price. scenario A Buyer : how much for the mith 2 hander? Seller : make an offer Buyer : ok, how about 1,500? no reply from seller scenario B Buyer : how much for the mith 2 hander? Seller : make an offer Buyer : how about 1,500? Seller : sorry, I can not go that low, was hoping to get at least 2,500 Buyer : hmmm well 2,500 is a bit steep but I suppose I could come up to 2k. Seller : ok im at T1 in scenario A not only do you come off as an ass ( to most people ) but you lose an opportunity to sell your item and get out of EC and do something productive. in scenario B , when the buyer's offer is too low you come back with a number higher than you want so when they try and re-negotiate and low ball you again, you get closer to what you were hoping to initially get and in the long run you will most likely end up making a sale a whole lot quicker. it just seems stupid to me, there is absolutely no reason not to reply and negotiate if someone makes a low ball offer on an item you are selling when you did not advertise a price.

![]() also, I would like to add my scenario above still leaves the door open for the person making the initial offer to offer more than it is worth.

![]() And no, I don't EVER try to rip someone off. I will compete like hell for camps within legal limits and a lot of people say that makes me an asshole. BUT you won't see me overcharging people for items. In fact I don't really care unless it's 1000pp item or more, I'll often just give stuff away if I see someone bargaining hard for an item that I don't really need the plat for.
