This.

The whole thread rests on this. I enjoy both perspectives on display here between cha and hp. Realistically different situations call for different equipment. But p99 definitely is not Live and I'd love to hear from others even more diverse ways of how different high level chanters are looking at this issue on this specific server.

Since this is called Everquest, I always like to think I'm after something. Just trying to figure out what rode that is.
(hard cap fulfillment vs HP and resists... and all the tradeoffs and different situations that go along with those tradeoffs)

On a side note, I don't think anyone mentioned wrist items. Easiest upgrades for you to obtain would be the enchanter bracer from Sky (can even drop on Island 1 I think). The other being the supple scale armband that drops in KC.

There's just not that much equipment drops for us in Kunark. Everything that's an upgrade isn't much of an upgrade and comes from hate/fear/sky.

Of course, this means you can just play your character and not worry about loots.

I feel like having my current 230 CHA is way nicer than my old 200 CHA but that could all be in my head.

I can't answer the enc specific questions because I don't play one. I can just give you gear advice by looking stuff up via the wiki.

However the Adamantite ring Vs Plat rose ring, I'd say it depends on if you're fighting a lot of casters. If you're fighting pure melee then the -10svm doesnt matter and losing 5ac probably won't hurt your mitigation much as a caster anyways (IE: your mitigation will still suck so you'll likely take full dmg anyways). Personally I don't like the adamantite rings and stick to the 5ac55hp ones.

Turmoil Warts from the Turmoil Toads in PoFear would be your best bet for an ammo item you can leave behind on a corpse. Coldstones I believe are no-rent,and you don't get stats from items in the ammo slot even if the item has stats on it.

After a little searching, I just found out that one can purchase a Throwing Axe from the merchant Cikoona in Oggok. I've confirmed she sells them in game and that they're equitable.

A Throwing Axe weighs 1 stone and fits in the ammo slot for most peeps, including cloth casters. This makes a great item to leave on a corpse while waiting for a res.

This answers my second question from above.

Edit: Cost was negligible. Only a few silver pieces.

I have nothing new to add reallly, but I wanted to chime in that this is a very nice post and set of replies. I think there is good information in it for other int casters as well, particularly a Necro.

(are HPs worth the neg MR?)
No. Keep the 55/5 ring. 20HP is not worth 5AC 10MR. The AC is actually fairly nice - you won't have a ton of it, but it does help, don't ignore that stat. Adamantite Band is a bad item.

In general, I'd ignore INT unless it's a slot where you simply can't get HP or CHA. INT is such a placebo stat, and 95% of the time it'll do you no good whatsoever. I didn't even bother to cast Brilliance on myself when I played an enchanter, because the situations where the size of my mana pool mattered were so few I could count them on two hands over the course of 50 levels. Get your charisma to 215 (you can drop it to 205 when you get the +50 CHA buff at 56) and focus everything else on survivability stats. It doesn't hurt to have some INT pieces for situations where you aren't doing anything that relies on CHA, but if you don't have unlimited funds and have to decide whether to buy, say, gebs or a HP item, get the HP item and don't spend anything on INT items until you can't improve your CHA/HP/resists anymore.
